ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A small market at The Workshop Community Center in Anchorage helped youngsters sell their crafts.
Handmade items for sale at the nonprofit community center were out on display. Communications from The Workshop described the event as an opportunity to start shopping for the holidays.
Tables of handcrafted items made by local kids were full. Toy axes made of cardboard and duct tape, as well as squeezable toys made of balloons and flour were among the wide array of inventory.
Kasie Krage, volunteer with The Workshop, said the event gives kids “experience on being entrepreneurs themselves, get interaction with the community as those that come in experience pricing.”
For kids like Maddy Collins, 16, it’s a way to ease themselves in selling crafts.
Collins, who was selling crocheted clothing items and jewelry, said it was her first time having a craft fair booth. At the time, Collins said she had only made $10, but said she hopes to sell her crafts at more fairs in the future.
