  1. Submission Statement: “Understanding the rise of the totalitarian axis of China and Russia can’t be reduced to an easy formula — and the West must recognize the complex geopolitical reality.” Walter Clemens highlights Oriana Skylar Mastro’s framework of emulation, exploitation, and entrepreneurship in analyzing geopolitical strategies. While China employs these tactics cautiously, it also aggressively asserts its military and territorial ambitions. In contrast, Russia’s actions, including violent repression and cyber warfare, go beyond Mastro’s framework in a way that complicates Western responses to totalitarian threats.

  2. Both of these countries have big problems looming, potentially to the point of collapse. Xi might not remain in “good health” much longer if things keep going the way they are. For instance, the whole Rocket Corps, which is the main defensive arm of the country is in big trouble because a lot of the missile fuel tanks have been found to be filled with water because poor troops are using rocket fuel to cook food. And in up to 90% of the concrete missile bunkers poor construction has left the bunkers with doors that might not open to let the missiles out. That’s an issue.

Russia, they are really having problems with Ukraine and it’s hurting their economy. They are lying about production to keep up appearances and are having trouble selling their gas. Another example: Russia claims they are producing around 3500 tanks a year for the war effort, but it turns out they can only make about 1300 a year and the others are just old refurbished tanks that they are putting back in service, which they are not only running out of, but are not very effective in the field. Not to mention that his nuclear warheads most likely do not have enough tritium to actually ignite. That was the case in the early 2000’s, but maybe putin has fixed that, who knows.

I think Trump got back in office at just the right time to get a lot of credit, because these 2 countries could fall into chaos soon.
