It’s late in the season, but there are still queen bumblebees out and about collecting the last bits of food before settling in for the winter. If you see one on the pavement, please move her out of the way so she doesn’t get stepped on.

They get a bit lethargic also when temperatures are low. I would place them in the sun in a safe green area off the path or somewhere warm to spend the night if it’s dark out.
You can offer some water and sugar in a 1:10 ratio on a cotton swab / in a small cap as it’s hard for them to find flowers at this time of year.
It’s nice to see people acting cordially towards our bee friends.
Always good to see folks help out the bumblies.
I tried helping a bee back in late summer that was in the shade, it moved slow and looked cold. Picked it up by hand and tried putting it on a plant it the sun. Started to panic a bit because it wouldn’t get off me lol. Eventually got it onto the plant after some gentle persuasion. It stayed there for a few minutes before suddenly ravaging the pollen and buzzing off. Mission accomplished.
Oh so that’s what those huge bees are?
Bees are wonderful creatures.
So special and absolutely mind blowing when you learn about them.
