Hey man, Virtuosity was a classic
Phoned in Denzel was still pretty good
Ricochet is top 5 Denzel.
Fallen doesn’t get enough love. Great movie with some great performances.
“I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
“Yeah me too. Somebody is playing with my dick and it ain’t me.”
Edit: Honestly, I couldn’t believe it after thinking about his quote. Here’s his post Malcom X 90s stuff.
Much Ado about Nothing, The Pelican Brief, PHILADELPHIA, CRIMSON TIDE, Virtuosity, Devil in a Blue Dress, Courage Under Fire, The Preacher’s Wife, Fallen, HE GOT GAME, The Siege, The Bone Collector, THE HURRICANE.
I understand there werent a lot of box office bangers in there. But I mean…. Fuck. His post 90s work alone, minus everything he did after, most actors would kill for. KILL FOR.
Then he OPENS the 2000s with Remember the Titans, Training Day, and John Q consecutively.
You can put Denzel’s resume against any actor that has lived and make a GOAT case. I don’t see many bad movies at all on his resume.
Denzel is great in any movie. And I know he isn’t talking about Deja Vu.
He must be referring to this stretch, though I am with you guys, not really seeing anything outwardly horrible. I enjoyed quite a few of these:
Much Ado About Nothing (1993)
Pelican Brief (1993)
Philadelphia (1993)
Crimson Tide (1995)
Virtuosity (1995)
Devil in a Blue Dress (1995)
Courage Under Fire (1996)
The Preacher’s Wife (1996)
Fallen (98)
He Got Game (98)
The Siege (99)
The Bone Collector (99)
The Hurricane (99)
In 2000 he cranked out the Disney classic Remember the Titans, and the rest has been history.
I wonder which movies he had issue with over that long run?
Maybe he just felt they didn’t live up to the standard set by Malcolm X. But several of those are really good movies. Even Tom Hanks thinks he has only made about 6 to 8 good movies. Actors, am I right?
Crimson Tide was an awesome and underrated flick. The build up of the mutiny scene was intense and well acted.
Denzel made some clunkers, but he acted in the end as though they were Oscar worthy.
His clunkers are still better than everyone else’s (exaggerating of course) best movie by a long-shot.
I think my favourite Denzel movie has to be Man On Fire
Just in the 80’s- Mighty Quinn is fantastic!
He Got Game and Bone Collector are fantastic films lol
It really doesn’t matter what films Washington made. Danzel shined through them all! Awesome actor.
I don’t remember every movie on that list, but I do see at least 3 stinkers that stand out to me.
Virtuosity is one of the worst movies of all time. But it’s definitely in the “so bad it’s good” category in that you can hate watch it today and still have a good time.
The Bone Collector is just pure cringe.
John Q was dull, but I support any attempted criticism of the US health care system.
But that said, loved him in Training Day, Inside Man, Philadelphia, etc.
Just the fact that he can do anything from Shakespeare to Malcolm X so convincingly defines him as one of the best actors of the last generation. So who cares? He’s entitled to a few duds. If anything, his performances in those bad movies elevate them enough so that we can still talk about them today.
