  1. He’s clearly scared of a by-election if he’s claiming it’s good for the public purse and that of other parties.

  3. Yeah you’re the victim, you definitely are Stephen. Poor fucking you.

    You absoilute self serving cunt.

He’s been the Wormtongue behind everything the SNP have been doing recently so it is some kind of poetic justice if he does end up leader with the shower of grasping talentless MSPs they have.

Or this is a chance for the SNP to boot him and Sturgeonism out and draw a line under it and actually start working for the people that elect them instead of their own filthy grasping hands.

  4. > “I’m not going to shy away, I’m not going to be hounded out from standing for what I believe in.”

The belief that you shouldn’t have to work full time for your £91k + 44k a year in expenses?

    Grifting cunt.

  5. Probably thinks we care about his feelings on this. Really, we don’t. I don’t like him. Can’t think of many who do. Keen to see the back of this party.

  6. Well yeah, the Cherry TERF wing of busybody seatwarmers are mad they might not get to take over the SNP.

  7. Jog on you slimy prick. Briefing against colleagues while insinuating himself into power by whatever means necessary, and playing schoolboy politics for attention. Fuck off.

  8. I’m not a nationalist, but my view and respect of the SNP has deteriorated rapidly in recent years.

Continued hypocrisy, continued grifting, forgetting their core message.

Allowing Flynn to stand goes against policy they’ve exceedingly fought against, and truly marks their 2026 downfall imo. So disappointing to see the party fall from a position to respect to a joke

  9. Where are the SNP astroturfers to defend him here?

Is it because there’s been so much bad shite from the SNP that you’ve given up?

Or are you being made redundant?

Usually there’s half a dozen of you gibbering on about it being a biased source, or a biased OP, or any other reason you can grasp at to discredit the article without discussing it. And if that doesn’t work you’re out with the whataboutery.

Where have you all gone? Recently there’s been far less deflection.

  10. If he’s going to run for Holyrood, the only reasonable thing would be to step down as an MP.

  11. Well, no. He’s performed the rare trick of uniting quite different factions of the SNP against him.

  12. Regardless of our politics I think we can all come together in agreement that Flynn badly needs to use a Sunbed and a steak dinner as he looks like an anaemic looking cotton wool bud. He should at least grow a beard if he can.

  13. His naked ambition is so obvious it’s jarring.

He seems to be playing the victim, saying he has to come and defend himself from “being hounded for what he believes in”. Which is such a bizarre twisting of events, unless what he believes in is the dual mandate? Because that’s the crux of the reason why people are upset.

If he said he’d step down as MP if he wins MSP, the reaction wouldn’t have been as strong.

  14. He’s an absolute wank of the slimiest kind.

If there was any ever doubt that the SNP isn’t just a shower like the rest of them, I present you this latest debacle.

  15. Just another polition only interested in his bank balance All the same lies ( oops forgot it’s called spin now) pure greed Voted SNP all my life can’t even begin to explain how let down or hurt I feel all the same bastered s one and all

  16. No shit Sherlock.

Person that was utterly vitriolic towards Douglas Ross for attempting to get a Westminster seat while holding a Holyrood seat then tries to pull off the same trick…

His ‘Flynn for SNP Leadership’ campaign is now badly damaged. And he looks like damaged goods, like Grey and Mathieson.

  17. For the unaware, why is there such dislike for Flynn?

  18. He says he is standing for what he believes in but I thought he believed it was wrong to be an MSP and MP when Ross did it?

  19. What did Swinney think of Douglas Ross doing the same?

    >Douglas Ross has no credibility whatsoever – he has been telling us all that he wants to be leader of the Scottish Conservative Party so that he can become the first minister of Scotland.

    >But he is now taking a decision to try to get back to the House of Commons so he is just exercising constant naked self-interest in the decisions that he takes.

No consistency. No principles. No self-respect.

    Utter Farce.

  20. He does a great job representing Scotland in the House of Commons, I can see why the BBC would want to shame him.

  21. Flynn has always given me the ick. Can’t deny his talent as a politician, rarely if ever comes off second best in a debate. Never splutters, never loses his composure.

That quality is what separates hobby politicians from the people who make history. It’s an obvious statement given the mixed bag that is the SNP but he is unquestionably the natural successor to Salmond and Sturgeon, and in theory he could even surpass them with time.

But whereas Salmond had a pretense of jocular warmth and Sturgeon her own star power, I see only ruthless ambition in Flynn. Useful quality if you’re a hedge fund manager or Tory leadership candidate but that alone does not a good (capital L) leader make, no matter your ideology.
