safe to go to finland in the coming months, or best to wait for finland joining nato?
Visiting Finland in summer, got the museum card, any recommendations for helsinki/Turku metro museums?
I’m not sure how to actually emigrate/move to finland as an EU citizen. Can I contact my university for help regarding emigration or do I contact the emigration service itself?
Also, regarding immigration services, do I use the “First residence permit” or “EU citizen” sections? I assume the EU Citizen sections, but the link my university sent me directs me to the “First residence permit” section.
Oh, lastly, is it better to apply for a permit after or before you physically move to Finland?
I have a number of questions specifically to my situation. I plan to move to Finland in a few months. I’m an EU citizen, Romanian. I’m in a relationship with a finnish citizen for 2 years now.
1. Can I go to a Migri office without an appointment just to ask these questions? I don’t see the meaning of an appointment just for a 5 min conversation and not actually registering yet.
1. How long does it take to be registered? This for me is the whole process, from getting the first papers needed to having the registration form in hand, assuming everything goes smoothly (they are vaque about it on Migri)
2. If I register with a job, what happens if I quit it? / change it?
Relationship stuff:
3. How does the condition “have to have lived for 2 years together” to apply for registration based on family/spouse work (from Migri ) ? Could I change my registration category from job to family after we’ve been living together for 2 years?
4. Does it matter that we’re engaged?
Okay so I’m planning on studying abroad at either Tampere University or the University of Turku. I come from America and go to school at a pretty small liberal arts college. I’m wondering what Finland will be like in either of these cities. I’m used to snow and winters in the northeast of America but I’m wondering what other things to expect. How is Finland compared to America and what should I expect? I’ve heard Finnish people are more closed off and keep to themselves but I’m not opposed to studying there because I think it will be something outside of my comfort zone but hoping it will be a great experience! Should I try to start learning Swedish or Finnish beforehand or would this not be necessary? Any advice or comments in general would be helpful. I’m 20 years old but will be 21 when I’m planning on studying abroad. Also any resources would be appreciated! Any differences in food or culture? Is there nightlife in either of these cities? What kinds of activities/events/holidays are there? What should I educate myself on before coming? Never been outside the U.S. btw.
Credit cards; any things to keep in mind?
I’ve just begun earning, and want to get a credit card with the primary purpose of building a credit score here in Finland. A secondary benefit would be to get some card related perks, but from what I understand that’s not very common here (though lounge access would be great, since I travel every 6 months or so).
I currently use Danske, but willing to switch banks if needed. Any recommendations for a good card, either with low charges or enough benefits to warrant higher charges?
So basically my dream trip is going to North Finland ever since I was a child. I’ve been to Helsinki and had so much fun.
I’m currently a student about to graduate but my question is how tough is to travel to Northen Finland and do all the attractions and tourism alone?
I know that the best time traveling to Rovaniemi is between end of September though end of March.
I think I can skip a week from work and school and go on the 10th of March. I’ve found an orgenized trip from Israel to Rovaniemi which includes all the attractions, Hotel and traveling bus. But It costs so much 2400 EUR.
My question is whether go for it although the high price and save me the trouble from traveling alone and somehow arrive to the different attractions and pay for them alone.
I believe there are trips that you can take from the hotels like every hotel in the world.
I would be happy to hear people around the world and of course locals who made such a trip and maybe share an advice?
Thanks 🙏
I’m a US citizen looking to visit. Will a CDC card like [this](https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/QPIomrKO1EayhirdJOTIDw–/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTcwNTtoPTUzNC4yNTc4MTI1/https://s.yimg.com/uu/api/res/1.2/XOqkbm9kWcTm5a2CoblaHA–~B/aD00ODU7dz02NDA7YXBwaWQ9eXRhY2h5b24-/https://media.zenfs.com/en/quartz.com/b63508586eac90a7823e9e578a0fab57) suffice for proof of vaccination?
I’m from Asia, and would like to buy a surprise gift card for my Finnish bud. Just want to ask if [https://nettilahja.fi/](https://nettilahja.fi/) is a reliable online store, as it is difficult to find any review or information.
I would also be grateful if there are any recommendations for other stores selling gift cards online, I am searching for fast food/grocery chains gift cards!
Many thanks in advance!
