Hollywood is ditching X for Bluesky. Here’s what to know about the social media site

  1. People will sneer at this as meaningless, but I think A-list celebs on Twitter do drive a lot of engagement and traffic (or they used to, before Musk mutated it into his own, insecure image). If they actually all left, it would have a significant impact on the site.

  2. Bluesky? Isn’t that the app where you aren’t allowed to be racist?

  3. Good. Now we need to pressure any and all self-proclaimed “reputable” news sources to completely divorce themselves of twitter. Huge conflict of interest and frankly, surprised it’s not more immediate.

  4. I’m not shocked that Hollywood is running away

    Run to your safe spaces.

  5. Real people still use Twitter?? Gross. It’s just a toxic cess pool. Has been for a while.

  6. funny how as soon as they felt they lost power on X, because of Elon and Maga dominating the platform, they look for other places. It’s all about power for them, they want to have a say and big influence over politics. On twitter it’s not possible anymore

  7. Finally! I keep searching the app and wondering why I can’t find people I used to follow on twitter

  8. I’m trying to sanitize my bluesky experience of all politics. Anything remotely political from either side I’m scrubbing from my feed.

    I long for a de-radicalized SoMe experience.

  9. Echo chamber must be the new maga word of the week. Seen it in like 30 comments.

  10. Its a tough one, its a toxic site and I left a while back but ceding the whole site to the angry MAGA heads will push us all further into our bubbles.

  11. Doesn’t Bluesky have a problem with some sketchy stuff right now? Already?

  12. My biggest hang up with joining Bluesky is: Do I want to join a site that has a left bias after how Nov. 5th went?

It’s not about supporting Elon but exposing myself to different points of view. I’ve been trying to avoid echo chambers since 2016. Not join them.

  13. Tempting to join just to inflate numbers against Musk. But I can’t help feeling it’s really pathetic, joining in on any of this as it’s not even relevant to my life.

Haven’t had access to Twitter for about a year now and it’s great. Why on earth would I want to go back to the addiction of constantly scrolling through social media for no actual reason. No thanks, rather read a book.

  14. You can choose to have neither Twitter nor BlueSky. That is also an option.

  15. We do not need to pay attention to what celebrities have to say. They can pick any platform they want, we shouldn’t give a shit. I know I don’t.

  16. And not 1 person cares.

    Hollywood= More Advertising.

    Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  17. I have pretty much blocked all of Hollywood from all of my social media platforms. I don’t care what they have to say and I don’t relate to their problems or issues. I use X to know what is trending and to get in touch with a business if o have to.

  18. I thought it was all bots and nazis now, surprised any celebs were left

  19. I don’t get it, what’s with all the Elon Musk hate in here and all over Reddit recently? What did he do wrong? Genuinely curious

  20. to the most uninformed user/customer, are there any things that Bluesky do better than X?

  21. I honestly don’t think anyone cares except for disgruntled liberals.

  22. I bet in the future this could potentially be looked at as the exact point in history where it was too late. 2 complete echo chambers now created at a time when both sides need to be listening to each other. I’m not even American but it’s clear to see even from over here

  23. I’m still on twitter (will not call it X till Muskrat acknowledges and uses his daughters chosen name). I have a blue sky account and am following those that are on there already.

That said, there are a fair few people on my sports team Twitter circle that either haven’t made the jump, or I don’t know if they have.

Fortunately my algorithm is pretty much exclusively made up of my sports team and Broadway/musical theatre. If it weren’t I would have left a long time ago.

Will be making the jump to bluesky soon (but will leave the twitter app (haven’t updated it since before it became X, so it’s still the original logo/app icon)

  24. I used to post pictures of my basic origami on Twitter, never even posted any words I don’t think, just the pictures. Maybe like 5 people would view any given image

I went back on after like a year of inactivity and saw that my account was banned. I was like uhhh, ok. No more Twitter or Twitter like apps for me. I can’t even figure out how to follow the course of a conversation on there anyways with the way it’s presented.

  25. Remember Threads? Lol neither does anybody else. This is a pipe dream.
