  1. The length is irrelevant, the depth is the limiting factor here.

  2. Can probably just take a look at the movements of Russian ships, and concentrate search in those areas. Should speed things up.

  3. The reason(s) are that Russia is permitted access to the Baltic sea.

  4. These cables can not be cut easily by accident. They are huge, extremely tough, and are buried in a trench. Finally they are marked on a map so that no one accidentally cuts them.

  5. Stop…we know who did it. Call it what it is, an Act of War.

  6. We can expect to see more of this over the coming months. Perhaps it’s time we started ushering Russian vessels away from our undersea cables? 🤔

  7. Makes me wonder if routing through friendlier waters (down the side of Sweden) might have been feasible.

  8. These cables get cut all the time. Could be the russians or it could just be a fishing boat scraping the bottom of the ocean

  9. These cables are regularly cut by ships dragging an anchor where they’re not supposed to. There are a lot of cables in the Baltic Sea, and this one is not particularly big, even for Baltic Sea cables.

  10. OP, Thanks for using BlueSky as a source instead of that other one!

  11. Just another push of the red line.

Russia still thinks of East Germany as belonging to them.

  12. I would wait for confirmation of this.

The only other source I can find is a very brief press release from the operator:

    [link](https://www.cinia.fi/en/news/a-fault-in-the-cinia-c-lion1-submarine-cable-between-finland-and-germany)

    All it says is:

    > A fault has been detected in the Cinia C-Lion1 submarine cable between Finland and Germany on 18 November, 2024. Due to the fault, the services provided over the C-Lion1 cable are down. The cause of the fault is being investigated. More information of the situation will be updated on Tuesday 19 November, 2024.

The fault could be because the cable is cut, or because a server shat the bed. Let’s hold off on WW3 for the time being.

  13. Another very stern tongue lashing with threats in the time out chair

  14. No more Russian ships granted access to the Baltic Sea. Sea, land and air blockade for Königsberg.

  15. The more this happens, the more submarines and ships in the area should be listed as missing. This is an act of war, no way to sugar coat it.

  16. Gosh, I wonder how this could have happened and who could possible be responsible lol.

  17. If it’s a ruzzian retaliation for the ATACMS they are about to eat, it should be carefully investigated.

If it’s a ruzzian test for future sabotage, it should be carefully investigated.

Either way, find out what happened. And make the party responsible pay.
