  1. 31 months…probably eligible for parole in a little over a year.

  2. She was jailed for 31 months, so she’ll serve about a year, assuming she’s not been on remand and that child cruelty is eligible for release after 40% of the sentence.

This sort of thing should really be manslaughter though.

  3. I mean, good, she should be sent to jail (and has been there for a year already on remand), but **how** has this taken 5 years to be tried?

    That’s not just on **anyone.**

  4. what the heck is “sweat transfer from a cannabis user?” I Googled it and this seems to be the only time someone has ever talked about ever talked about a “sweat transfer” and cannabis. I can guess what it might be supposed to mean – like cannabis users are leaking THC out of their sweat and the baby got a little high touching a sweaty stoner – but this isn’t something that happens? Surely the more obvious answer is ‘the baby consumed cannabis somehow’?

  5. How the nhs and all doctors can give womens .give baby to home..

  6. Drug addicts should be barred from custody of children full stop

  7. Man, I was ready to come down on this woman but after reading the article it just seems like an enormous tragedy and I feel sorry for her. It seems like a freak event that has absolutely destroyed her life.

And before anyone bothers to reply saying ‘blah blah she shouldn’t have been doing it blah blah’, just remember that drug addiction is a *mental and physiological* *illness*, not the result of greed or sloth or any kind of moral character flaw.

  8. If that isn’t a wake up call to get clean I don’t know what is.
