  4. The source of the article is a Tweet which claims a whistleblower told them.

    The article says if the Tweet is wrong then DWP should publish stats.

    >If this is wrong, the DWP should come out and publish the full nationality breakdown of those claiming benefits.

    So no way to actually know if the headline is true.

  6. 3.4 million “new claimants” sounds like an exaggeration however there should be a basic rule that if you are not a British citizen you should not be entitled to any welfare benefits apart from healthcare.

    We should not be importing welfare dependant migrants who are unable to support themselves, it is economic insanity to do so

  15. I can only speak for certain benefits, but full 100% British citizenship isn’t always required to claim UK benefits. As long as they have an immigration status that allows recourse to public funds, then it’s fair game. The rules for UC may be different, even laxer.

    To anyone who’s triggered by this, the Conservatives had 14 years to rewrite policy on this.

  24. When reading Oxford studies amongst others, they claim immigrants are net positive to the economy, whilst all low earning British are negative…

    Forget to see that immigrants dilute the job market and bring wages down, whilst raising inflation.

    I’d love to live in America. But I don’t have the money to legally gain citizenship. Whilst illegal immigrants break the law, just to gain entry.

There’s 6.3 million people on UC, which is the benefit people have had to claim for the last few years now as a new claimant, so I would assume that the figure of 3.4 million being non British citizens is a load of bull. When you look at the statistics (from gov.uk) there was a decline in those claiming unemployment benefits until brexit, when it steadily increased. All other benefits have pretty much stayed the same regarding the number of claimants from around 15-20 years ago to now.
