Eating ice cream in Finland

  1. My family immigrated from Finland to the US very late 1800’s/very early 1900’s. Every single one of us *love* ice cream in the winter! Nothing beats taking a sauna and then rolling in the snow/jumping into a frozen lake and the back into the sauna, all to be finished with ice cream. My family when they came to the US moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan so it’s normal for everyone to have a sauna there.

  2. We Aussies do this too. I remember a new icecream shop trying to close for winter in Sydney, back in the 90s, and all of us being bewildered as to why icecream should be not available for several months at a time.
