Well, one reason the psychiatric services is a disaster. There are complaints consultants are paid too much but there are no applicants for these positions.
Let me guess, they wanted you to send a cv and then also fill out an application form with exact same info.

You take up one of these jobs, your inheriting a complete shitshow. You won’t have the staffing or support services to do the job properly.
I don’t think salary is the issue, it’s everything else that goes with the job. You’re probably doing 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 call if not worse as well.
Cause the money is useless if your mental health is being destroyed
Hang on a minute, are you somehow implying that money isn’t everything and that people who do really hard jobs and get paid a lot might not just be overpaid chancers?

There are approximately 500 unfilled consultant posts in Ireland. We cannot attract the talent as the pay and conditions are so poor. Nice hack job by the Indo calling the posts “highly paid” and referencing 39 hours a week. Given the conditions and the immense responsibility, they’re anything but.
