Another unicorn like *iGaming, Financal Sector, Aviation & Ship register* or sort sighted vision like *The Blockchain Island*?

  1. The other sectors mentioned are promising, but the metaverse will likely be another flop like the blockchain island idea. Would probably still output benefits for short-term like the blockchain island did.

  2. I guess both parties want to establish a third foreign investment pillar after financial services and igaming. What they seem to forget is that igaming didn’t come out of the blue as an electoral promise. It was grown and nurtured over years via the state working with private companies, and for the most part of that time, the government wasn’t trying to get credit for it, they just worked at making it grow…then of course when it succeeded they made a whole song a dance, but I suppose that was deserved hehe.

  3. Metaverse is a fluid, moving target right now. There are significant differences of opinion regarding specifically what it will actually be, what services it will encompass and what technologies and more importantly standards it will use.

Good luck hitting that target with legislation.

  4. What many people don’t seem to understand:

Yes, you can create legal frameworks and weak enforcement of tax laws so that iGaming and other internet companies want to set a base here. You can do this basically while sitting on your desk when you’re in power.
The companies you attract by doing so need staff, of which some will always be required to be here despite teams and zoom.
Now here comes the issue which they seem to forget about: This place is becoming closer to being unlivable in day by day, construction site by construction site. Anyone who can is leaving or making plans to leave, and at some point, when there is literally not a single pretty place left besides the sea, all the good weather and potential job opportunities will be outweighed by the downsides of living in a narrow, dusty, smelly, noisy, car-dominated, dirty rock with a bit of garbage never further than a step away from you.

Instead of throwing 1bn at fancy futuristic words, how about first throwing 900m at basic, semi-OK public places and infrastructure, and then see how far the remaining 100m get you when invested in attracting ten thousands more to come?

Also HOW THE FUCK can they make political rallies and events with hundreds of people while the „entertainment industry“ stays shut basically and 70% of the world is on a „dark red list“ where people are required to go into 14 days of state run hotel quarantine? While most of the world is dropping masks, we still have hotel quarantine, let that sink in. Because of variants which they want to keep away from here or what? Damn.

I‘m being honest guys. I’m not Maltse, but one of my parents is and so I come visit often. It’s worse every god damn time and it’s sad to see.
