Finland is not in NATO for a reason. Only because people have rightfully huge support for Ukraine right now, that does not mean Finland should join NATO. Diplomats better have cool-head here. Isolate what is good for Finland from emotional reaction.

I can’t believe I’m about to say this…
But I actually agree with him.
I hope Sweden joins immediately. There is nothing I’ve seen NATO do in my lifetime that is so great that it would cause more harm than good. It’s the complete opposite. Not to mention Cyber Warfare possibly being a major new addition to NATO. That would be huge for IT jobs, for a collective defense against China and Russia, and even to allow Facebook to spy on us exclusively! But really, I’m 100% for NATO.

There were preliminary parliamentary talks about this yesterday and one of the party leaders (Annika Saarikko of the Centre Party of Finland, an agrarian political party) said they’re gonna have to weigh their stance at the annual party meeting in June. I don’t think they’ll quite be allowed to wait for that long.
Interesting how they say this instead of the scary “turtle” Mitch McConnell as it would instantly make it bad news.

I am ambivalent on nato-membership but it is interesting how nearly everyday there is an American news about how close we are to joining or that we should join. While Russias aggressions have raised the issue here again it is much more talked among other countries (especially America) than over here.
As I stated in a previous thread (somewhat jokingly)…
