Turkiye has no intention of joining sanctions against Russia: Foreign minister

  1. I see Turkey is still doing the whole playing all sides thingy instead of siding with their alliance and then will wonder why they arent treated like a trustworthy member.

  2. I really don’t think you guys know how much of a precarious situation Turkey is in right now during this war. As we all know Turkey’s economy has been on a downward spiral for years, and in recent months it has been on the brink of total collapse which means the nation can not risk any more burdens as current things stand. Turkey’s geographic location also hinders direct action like the ones seen in Western Europe. Turkey borders Russian presence both from the Black Sea and from Syria and even Armenia. If Turkey said “YOLO” and enacted wide-scale sanctions on Russia like Europe, then it’s risking a potential escalation in Idlib Syria by the Assad Regime backed by the Russians. This would just worsen Turkey’s already huge migrant crisis. It’s easy for a country like Luxembourg or Slovakia to give the finger to the Kremlin but not Turkey.

Also, I would like to point out the notion that “Turkey is not doing enough for Ukraine” is utter BS. Before the Russian Invasion, Turkey sold Ukraine drones, munitions, and even began constructing Ukraine’s military-industrial complex with new plans of constructing military factories in Ukraine. Turkey even announced yesterday that it would start enacting the clauses of the Montreux Convention regarding the status of the straits during times of war which is a HUGE deal.

All I see from your post is just a person trying to take a jab at a geopolitical rival while thousands are being killed in a punitive war against Ukraine. You don’t really care about Ukrainians, you just want to have a “whos dick is longer” competition with Turkey.

  3. Finally something smart by our government!!! We shouldn’t do anything until NATO puts boots on the ground, which isn’t going to happen, so we shouldn’t do anything at all.

  4. Honestly, in Turkey’s position it could they end up hurting them more than Russia and their economy is already in a bad position, so I wouldn’t really hold it against them.

  5. Thanks to West already weakening their economy, they can’t take that step as much as they want to! Two face politics of the west! Now will b*** about why one of Russia’s enemy can’t put a saction on them!

  6. Oh shut up, we have been giving combat education to the Ukrainian military since 2015 while also supplying them with our latest technology. 5 days ago most of you were not even sure in lending them helmets. Just check the Ukrainian and Russian stance on TB2’s, one of the sole reasons Kiev is still standing. Thats what we can do at the moment still its better than what majority of you have done.

  7. Turkey has actively been stopping russian warships from passing by the straits though.
A full own clash vs Russia may be suicide given it is not a superpower.

Having said that, I dont think it would be very nice to start backing down against Russia though.

  8. I see we have our daily Greek circlejerk lol. Maybe we wouldn’t be dealing with this shit if EU confronted Russia half as much Turkey did in the last decade.

But nevermind, Turkey purchased S-400s so she must be a devout Russian ally anyways.
