We, as a society, voted for this. This is our collective vision for the country.
And yet James O’Brien was so against Jeremy Corbyn/Corbyn’s Labour, he was so extremely anti-Corbyn and against the one man who wanted to do something about this and scrap the whole thing, change things for the betterment of the poor/disabled/vulnerable. He now fakes his disgust and upset at the situation. Cunt.
I have been on the ‘dole’ , old enough to call it that ,a few times.
This unacceptable narrative that your council tax is paid, your rent is covered and loads of add on goodies are available if you are smart is simply not the case.
The look on people’s faces when you say you are unemployed says it all. You don’t want to work, how big is your t.v, wish I could be paid for doing nothing.
I was made redundant, my wife had to have a hysterectomy and she was unemployed due to illness. My rent at the time was four hundred pounds a month. We received , zero council tax help and were awarded four pounds a week towards rent. This was later declared an overpayment with a letter demanding it back after four weeks. They spend more time telling you how your benefits will be stopped during your interview and indeed I had to ask when my signing on day was as he forgot to tell me. The job centre staff are generally unmotivated , consider agencies and the yellow slave vest as the best way to climb out of your predicament.
You are on your own folks and benefits officers really are trained to make life almost impossible. How people think the system works and how it really works are a thousand miles apart.
It really isn’t a lifestyle choice, no matter what the Daily Mail peddle.
I don’t think it’s an unfair comment to suggest that somebody who is worth £200M, whose Father-In-Law and former business partner is worth £3.1B, and who has a £10M+ property portfolio in the UK with his wife, might struggle to see how £50pcm can be in any way noticeable, much less life altering. Frankly it’s *less* than chicken feed to him, so of course he’s going to struggle to contextualise it (and therefore understand the value of it to others).
Problem is James OB drew parallels between the Tory party and Labour Party in 2019 and also will happily support anti brexit Tory’s so he’s apart of the problem
I’ve got a feeling this man might have lost pr will lose his job for giving his truth
“Even if you’re freezing your… to the bones”
Nice save James.
I was on the dole for 6 years and the help i recieved to find a job was shit. Most of the time, it’s doing a CV, cover letter or work experience crap that doesn’t benefit you. I’ve been told that my CV is far better then the standard crap that DWP expects you to have and recruiters always tell when it’s DWP. I’m still surprised I wasn’t sanctioned for failing to apply for X amount of jobs because they used to do that. I’m still on the dole but on the backburner as a result of getting a zero hour contract. I hated every single second of job hunting and DWP were shite. Hell, when i started my job, the stuff they got for me was useless. Wrong colour trousers, incorrect shirts etc.. Ok, it was via one of their service partners but it was useless.

All you are is a thing to be ticked off. Dance to their tune and if you have a somewhat decent work coach, you won’t get sanctioned. If not and you get a dickhead who is powermad or just a prick who looks down on you because they personally feel that they are single handlely keeping you alive via taxes, you’ll feel like shit for daring to be unemployed. The entire “The unemployed get too much cash and blow it on booze, fags, sky, consoles” argument is pure shite.

Also, are people not allowed to keep themselves entertained or have some form of luxury to benefit their mental health? Because without my console, i think my mental health would have been utterly shite. Hell, I used to get stressed out and yell at the laptop on some days. I dread to think what I would ahve done without it. Nowadays, i’m happier because usually, I earn my cash and on the months that I have to rely on the system, I think I won’t have to worry because the threshold and hours being that crap will enable me to not starve. I still hate having to rely on the dole despite having a job though.

DWP doesn’t care for people. The politicans love to use it as a weapon despite benefit fraud being a very small portion(on a grand scale) compared to, oh, how about, MPs claiming for everything and giving contracts to their mates whilst being true scroungers? Because last time I checked, 80k+ per year is more then enough to live on.
What does Rishi Sunak’s personal wealth have to do with this? Perfect example of politics of envy (albeit in a thinly veiled disguise).
