Free Covid tests are set to be scrapped for everyone next week, LBC can reveal

  1. There’s going to be a massive rush on these. Not to add fuel to that fire but if you’re running short then maybe re-order sooner rather than later.

  2. Because fuck the vulnerable…
    – No restrictions, you can go out with no mask if you are infected/sick. Good thing vulnerable people have no jobs and don’t need food.
    – ONS data will be scrapped so the vulnerable have no way of determining what their risk is and whether it’s safe to go out.
    – No tests so there is no asking a family member or friend to take a quick test before meeting up.

Living with the virus, aka killing off everyone with an underlying condition. And as there is no data on it, it will happen in silence.

I get that people are pissed off about having to wear a mask (not that I agree with that stance), but how is access to tests and having data readily available negatively affecting anyone? All we are doing is make the world less accessible for those who are more vulnerable. (And as vaccines wane and we all age, this frankly should concern everyone – every family will have someone who is at greater risk)

  3. This seems right, to coincide with ending self isolation. Hopefully the NHS will still test patients if there are treatments available specifically for covid.

  4. Good. Now the money saved can go somewhere useful like one of Rees Mogg’s country club chums’ offshore accounts.

Fucking cunts, every single one of them.

  5. Reminder that covid testing costs the taxpayer 230 MILLION POUNDS **A WEEK**.

    That is all.

  6. It’s one way to get numbers down, there 5 in my house hold, and I’m honestly struggling to stay a float financially so there’s no way I can be paying for tests

  7. And you can be sure loads of events will demand negative tests for entry. And so in steps Randox Health, making huge bank on all the money they donated to Owen Paterson.

  8. If we cant see the problem! There isnt a problem!

Atleast tax isnt going up right guys!

    Oh wait…

  9. I wonder what this means for the devolved nations? Healthcare is devolved in Scotland but you order the tests through the UK government website so I’m not sure what the story is there.

  10. Everyone was lauding the removal of day 2 tests earlier in the week, but making people pay for lateral flows instead of it coming from the taxpayer is a step too far? Dece that.

  11. In the last two weeks there was a covid outbreak on my ward and we were back to full PPE, enhanced infection control, and staff were going off sick left right and centre.

If they pull free testing, and therefore the protection of the lower paid staff from the punitive absence system if they do indeed test positive, it will absolutely mean that vulnerable people will be interacting with covid positive NHS staff.

Will we just be, “living with” covid outbreaks in our hospitals now then?

  12. All this means is no ones going to test regardless if they have symptoms. I’m certainly not going to pay out of pocket for them when the government wastes out money on bullshit (track and trace). So if I have symptoms I’ll just assume it’s a cold unless PCRs are still free, get ready to catch that mega wave!

  13. That seems… Not clever. Giving power back to people to look after their own safety, but taking away one of the key tools to help them judge it?

Dafties. Which Minister’s got shares in LFT companies?

  14. The “Living with Covid” strategy; previously known as the “Herd Immunity” strategy which allegedly never was.
