Seeing the footage and images of ordinary people across Ukraine preparing Molotov Cocktails reminded me of this picture from the battle of the Bogside in Derry in 1969.

Saw Ukraine in the title and thought, Jesus that looks like Ireland in the 60s… then I re-read the title.
If Fine Gael won’t shift the Russian ambassador then maybe it’s time for civilians to oust him.
This photo was the first think I thought of when I saw those girls breaking down styrofoam. Great bunch of girls.
Civilian resistance is a moving thing to behold
Go on home Russian soldiers go on home.
i always heard during the troubles people putting sugar in the bottles,in ukraine there using soap shavings, candle wax and mostly styrofoam to thicken the liquid and make it greasy so it sticks longer to its target
“Mostly peaceful protest”
Lets hope this isnt the beginning of 30 years of troubles.
Which street is that?
The situation in Ukraine is infinitely more serious than the Battle of the Bogside. Not to belittle what happened, but the Brits weren’t firing missiles and rolling in on tanks. Sorry to be a whatever, but I am genuinely worried about how this shit is going to play out. I really think WW3 is upon us and I’m freaking out a little.
Good analogy. Both involve a heroic people, standing up to the aggression of their imperialist Eastern neighbour.
I was born in a Kyiv street,
Breaded chicken we would eat
Thankfully the Brits would never resort to thermobaric weapons, or even shelling
Wow
Them Belarus fuckers joing Russia nearly pisses me of more than Putin. What a crowed of Judas bastards!!!! 😤
