Isn’t Finland’s act of providing military support/aid to Ukraine dangerous for Finland?

  1. If it is “dangerous” to do so, it probably is a good idea to send aid to Ukraine and cripple this “danger factor”. If not, then what will Finland do when it faces this “danger” itself?

  2. If we turn a blind eye to another non-nato country in their direst need against tyranny, who’s gonna help us? We’re in this together, all the countries sharing border with Putin administration and together we prevail.

  3. Russia has multiple times threatened Finland if it joins NATO. Even when we’ve been neutral, Russia has had planes in our air space and orchestrated immigrants to our border. So in that regard we share a common enemy with Ukraine. Whatever damage Ukraine inflicts on Russian troops will make it more difficult for Russia to move on other targets, such as Finland. Considering Russia’s actions, Finland’s actions are appropriate and better than sitting on our hands and doing nothing.

But I suppose our willingness to send aid to Ukraine comes partially from our hope that someone would help us when we are in danger.

  4. Allowing Russia to rebuild the Empire is dangerous for Finland. If we let them take Ukraine, do you think they’ll stop there? No, then it will probably be Moldova, then Georgia, then us. Besides, it seems like the right thing to do.

  5. The only people it’s dangerous for is the Russians, just look back in history if you want to know the worth of a finish soldier compared to a Russian division

  6. Well you can let fear paralyze you aor do something despite that fear. We have fight russian before and were still here.

  7. I doubt that it’s dangerous for Finland to send aid but it’s great that our government is taking a stance.

  8. It’s much more dangerous for russians to step over the border.

There are tens of thousands of russian soldiers near our border but they are all located 6 feet deep.

  9. Finland got through the Winter War partly because other nations sent us aid and volunteers. Now that a European neighbour faces the same shit of course we should help. We should send more. If there was ever a time to stand up to Russia and not try to look busy it is now. Slava Ukrainï, go fuck yourself Putin.

  10. Thanks guys. All of your response makes sense. I do share the same feeling, this is not just about Ukraine alone and everyone should provide support, sooner the better.

  11. We’ve been REALLY nice to Russia and Putin, this is just enough lmao. No matter how “nice” we are, they will fuck us. So might as well help people like us who are being fucked by Russia.

  12. I assume you have already seen videos of their tracked vehicles running out of fuel in the middle of Ukrainian territory manned by inexperienced kids. If this is what Russia got then they have a lot of problems in their military to sort.

  13. It’s dangerous to aid enemies of Russia, but then again it’s dangerous to do nothings while others are helping. Though the help itself is not like top notch military tech (as it’s not from others either). Anyhow, real impactful help should’ve been given already few years ago in form of quality tactical training, drones, anti-air missiles + training for all of this. Now there’s a lot of spirit, but I don’t know how much there is raw know-how on Ukrainian side? Though I don’t know how good the Russian are either. It might be that the Russians are again more smoke and noise from Putin than actual skills.

  14. It’s in our best interests to make sure that Ukraine can hold off Russia and that the economic sanctions hit Russia HARD. If both of those happen (and I trust that they will), Russia will be in such a poor state economically that our door to NATO is as easy to walk through as it would have been 25 years ago.

Putler needs to concentrate a massive amount of his military to this operation, right now it has no excess to cover other places. He has gone all-in on Ukraine. So if Ukraine can hold off and make this attack costly, Russia will be in the ruins. I’ll give Putin’s regime less than 2 years of remaining lifetime. It will be interesting to see whether he will one day stand on trial at Haag.

  15. Well, this has been discussed extensively here in Finland for several days. As much as I like the idea of supporting the brave soldiers of Ukraine with modern weapons and equipment, the sad truth is, that Finland has none to spare. In a time, when Russia acts aggressively, it is impossible thought, that we would give away our military capability.

I think there are other countries that have weapons and are not bordering countries with Russia. Finland will provide other type of support.

  16. I think our politicians have been really careful with this and only gone forward as a part of the EU initiative. If we would have done the decision on our own then russia would have had much more they can say about it. As it’s done at the EU level they can’t put that much direct blame on us.

I’m really disappointed in what we are sending. 2000 vests and helmets are not that great, but it seems like there is more to come.

  17. Well Russian tanks are being destroyed by civilians, so I doubt Russia has much going for them if they attempted to attack Finland..

  18. Sending help to Ukraine sends a message to Putin. If 1 country alone can hold Russia so long then the whole western border is much much tougher for them. Finland especially. Finns have the ability to send their enemies straight to vittu.

  19. To aide a country that will put down a dictator that has threatened to invade Finland if it joins NATO, if you see this as a bad alternative to acting like an ostrich, can we examine your sanity?

  20. Is it dangerous to step in if a big, drunk guy is threatening a smaller one who asks for help? Probably. Should you still do it? Absolutely.
