International media accused of skewing and lying in coverage of Amsterdam riots • FRANCE 24

Unrest broke out before and after the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv football match in Amsterdam on November 7. In the following days, international media coverage of the riots was criticised. Many outlets focused on anti-Semitic attacks, while overlooking anti-Arab or anti-Muslim behaviour by Maccabi supporters. Part of this was because a video filmed by Dutch photographer Annet de Graaf was widely circulated and often misrepresented. Our guest in this edition of Scoop is professor and disinformation expert Marc Owen Jones.

  1. Only one conclusion can be drawn: The media were absolutely confused. From the left to the right ! …. and they still are !

  2. German media should be sweating rn. All the major newspapers are incredibly one sided. Without exposure to social media or foreign media (if you don’t speak English). As a result the attitude towards Israel is becoming more hostile the younger people get and more likely they are to have access to alternative news sources.

  3. Semite is a language group, Hebrew, Arabic and Aramaic, which makes Israel one of the most antisemitic countries in the world.

  4. Attacks Maccabi fans is worded as "anti-Semitic" yet attacks on the local Dutch is just worded as "attack on locals"? Bruh it should've been considered "anti-European" at least 🙄

  5. A welcome correction, but this report is STILL biased in favor of Israel. There is no equality between the violence dished out by Hamas and Israel, nor between the violence on the streets of Amsterdam between Maccabees supporters and those who opposed them. In both cases, the Israelis are overwhelming the guilty party.

  6. Funny enough it was not violence from both sides. It was violence from the Israeli and the Netherlands citizens self defending themselves after being let down by their own government please don't reduce what happened

  7. A big shame for these manipulative journalists because we people are well informed than 20 yrs ago!! Noobs!

  8. Am 76 years old and I understand now why Jews or Zionists are hated. These people are barbaries, we the people have got to stop these Israelis people spread hate.

  9. After seeing what really happened in Amsterdam can you believe anything the media reports. All the papers and international TV reports were very selective in their reports . False news is now common.

  10. In 2024, If anyone still believes what coming out of main stream media is anything but deceit, must be a 🐴.

  11. why "accused"? We all see it in real time.

The next day there were all the videos on the internet and the Amsterdam police report confirming the videos. Yet the lie continued for almost 2 weeks.

  12. they aim for the first impression cause it will last i side you, even if they correct it afterwards it'll be hard for you to earase it.
