‘Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has said all “net proceeds” from his sale of the club will go to a foundation benefiting “all victims of the war in Ukraine”.
The Russian billionaire, who took over in 2003, said in a statement it was in “the best interest” of the Premier League giants to sell up.’
This feels like huge (good?) news and the turning of the tide against Putin by the oligarchs?

I would like to think that even if he was dodgy in the past, his years living in the UK have had a positive effect on the man. And he knows right from wrong in this situation.

If he’s writing off his loans, isn’t that a huge amount of Chelsea’s debt? He bought the club for £140m, it’s now worth billions. So either he’s about to donate something like £2bn to war victims, or there is an accounting angle here I don’t understand. And I’m certain that he’s not about to donate something like £2bn to Ukraine.
