  1. This shows why you should ignore any new article that has the phrase “refuses to deny” or similar in. There’s been desperate drums from certain quarters in the press over the last 24 hours trying to get some discord or furore over the UK government’s response.

“Country that respects international law will respect international law” isn’t really a juicy story though. We are signatories to the ICC, we will obviously respect it. It’s not for us to decide, or even particularly weigh in on, the innocence or guilt of anyone issued an international arrest warrant. That’s literally what the court is there for, to take such matters out of the national sphere.

  2. > The Board of Deputies of British Jews said the ICC’s decision sent a “terrible message”.

No, actually, it sends exactly the right message…. Ignoring international law and intentionally murdering civilians will result in being hunted for the rest of your life.

  3. You know what’s crazy? You can insist that you think Netanyahu is innocent AND comply with an arrest warrant. If you, as a country with a police force, truly believe that people are not guilty JUST because they’re arrested, and that justice will come from a trial, then you should be wholeheartedly complying with the arrest warrant so Benjamin can prove his innocence.

  4. Cue certain people screaming that it’s antisemitic to say anything against Netanyahu right before praising Orban.

  5. I hope we never get attacked and have to go to war.

  6. >”The UK will always comply with its legal obligations as set out by domestic law, and indeed international law,” he said.

    >He added the domestic process linked to ICC arrest warrants has never been used to date by the UK because the country has never been visited by anyone wanted by the international court.

    “We won’t try very hard”
