  1. You can read Nikita Hand’s full statement below following the verdict in her civil case taken against Conor McGregor

“I would like to start off by saying I’m overwhelmed and touched by the support I have received from everybody.

“First, I want to thank the legal team and my three barristers, John Gordon, Ray Boland and Sean. They have been amazing from start to finish. I want to thank Mr Justice Alexander Owens, the jury, all the witnesses, I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone at the sexual sssault treatment unit in the Rotunda Hospital for looking after me, especially my own doctor Frank Clarke.

“I want to thank the Rape Crisis Centre, especially Cliona, who has been by my side throughout this entire period. I want to thank all the guards and the ambulance crew. I want to thank all the women and men out there who have supported me throughout this trial.

“For every person who reached out to me a card, a letter, e-mail, everything, it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Thank you. I really appreciate it so much.

“I want to thank my partner Gary, who has been so supportive for the last four years and has held my hand throughout his trial every day and every other day.

“I want to thank my mam and all my family and friends. Lastly, I want to thank my daughter Freya, who I’m most grateful for. She has given me so much strength and courage over the last six years throughout this nightmare to keep on pushing forward for justice.

“I want to show Freya and every other girl and boy that you can stand up for yourself. If something happens to you, no matter who the person is and justice will be served. To all the victims of sexual assault. I hope my story is a reminder that no matter how afraid you might be, speak up. You have a voice and keep on fighting for justice.

“I know this has impacted not only my life, my daughter’s, my family and friends tremendously, and it’s something that will I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. But now that justice has been served, I can now try and move on and look forward to the future with my family and friends and daughter.”

  2. An incredible victory and hopefully a precedent set. Wouldn’t be surprised to see more women speak up against this cunt now.

  3. Fair play to her. I hope her life going forward is filled with joy and love.

  4. Delighted for her.

I hope this will encourage more women to come forward.

  5. What a brave, brave woman. Fair play to her and her unbelievable courage through all of this.

  6. Legend of a woman. She sacrificed so much to hold him accountable.

  7. Refused to comment on anything until this was over but it was so clear this would be the outcome. The defence purposely made the evidence and stories as messy as possible to instil doubt in the jury’s mind, but justice was rightly served by the Jury today – well done to them.

  8. She is an amazing woman that has gone to hell and back. Hearing her speech brought a lump to my throat.
I stand in awe of her and what she’s done for other victims.

  9. Incredibly brave

I was raped in 2007 and the guy never faced any justice, I know how hard it is to push on and try to get these animals convicted

  10. How exactly can we accurately label him, an adjudicated rapist? Is that completely accurate

  11. I’ve been avoiding all speculation while the trial was on going. What was the Garda’s excuse for not seeking a criminal conviction? There seemed to be no shortage of evidence.

  12. Well done to that brave woman for standing up and speaking up. She’s done a lot for other girls to give them courage I hope.

  13. The extremely disturbing detail of the break in and stabbing of her partner. It just gets worse and worse. I’m the them McGregor stooges did it all out of own initiative of course.

  14. It’s shocking the cesspit that is Twitter defending him. The Andrew Tates of the world

  15. One thing about a small island like this. We really send the support. I really hope she feels a whole nation behind her because while it’s a win for her, it’s a win for all of us and our justice system.

You only have to look across the pond at trumps case being pushed out time and time again to see how flawed it is in other countries.

It’s not perfect here but today feels like a milestone turning point.

    Very proud of her

  16. I’d guessed she’s lying but knowing Connor I think the truth is with hers

  17. I’m delighted for Nikita.

No money in the world will diminish the trauma she endured. She will be forever be known as a warrior and someone who was willing to put her life on the line to prove to not herself, to the world that Conor McGregor is, and always was, a scumbag with another label on top – rapist scumbag.

Nikita is the real winner here. Despite the outcome, despite the reward. Nikita held her head up high and has shown that money and fame should not be a means to never face justice. Whether Civil or Criminal.

For anyone he’s paid off, I hope they can rest easy knowing that even though their words were silenced, someone was willing to fight him. For all the fame, money and “security” he has, it has now been proven that his actions have had consequences. It may have taken longer, and it may have taken one strong woman to bring him to justice, it’s a sigh of relief to know that the person who everyone knew was getting away with too much, has now be outed.

This won’t be the last we will hear of him but I am more than happy to know that this will be the highlight of his “career” and he’ll soon be fading out of the limelight.

For his partner, a woman, a mother – If this isn’t the push you needed to realise that the man you’ve birthed 4 children with, and who potentially has more floating around, is a narcissist rapist. I really do feel sorry for the children. Despite the potential of knowing that she could may well be in a relationship whereby abuse is on-going, I’m really not sure how she can justify todays outcome as a means to continue to support his actions. I really don’t.

  18. The bravery to proceed after they did could not bring a criminal charge says a lot. Last 4 yrs must have been hell for her and her family. Just hope they get some peace now and she can recover fully.

Work Rape Crisis Centre does is second to none, I do hope this gives others the courage to carry on…

  19. How many other cases of rape have been not brought to trial by the dpp. This is the shocking part of all this , as he has been proven to have raped the woman but now will just pay her money and will not serve any prison sentence.
