In style as well as situation, Mary and the Princess of Wales bear several similarities – not for nothing did the designer Karl Lagerfeld once say: ‘Kate is like a younger sister to Mary, who is both beautiful and elegant.’ Just like Mary, Kate is known to favour personalised jewellery for its sentimental meaning. In the past, she has stepped out in a touching necklace from All The Falling Stars, hung with medallions engraved with the letters ‘G, L, C’ in honour of her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The Princess also owns two designs from Daniella Draper: a pendant engraved with the initials of her children, and a chain featuring the same initials as drop charms. Kate has also worn a necklace hung with a disc, engraved with Prince George’s full name – George Alexander Louis – and, like Queen Mary, has a necklace dedicated to her husband: a heart-shaped charm inscribed with the letter ‘W’.
