Ukraine never makes a correction with their amounts. They had 3.5k Russian soldiers dead on the second or third day. They also claim to have shot down 2 Russian airships fool of soldiers south of Kiev. This clearly never happened and was never corrected.
We are probably looking at maybe 1-2k deaths at worst.
Well, Russians always lie. So 498 are 100% wrong. And 7000 seems too much. So I am doing, what both sides seem to do and will just name a number: 3961
7000 KIA would be half the official Soviet loses in Afghanistan in 10 years.
I don’t say it is impossible, we have battles with high butcher’s bill. On D-Day more than 4000 soldiers died for instance. But I find it improbable.
Ukraine has an interest in having the enemy loses being has high as possible, while Russian state TV was even denying until recently any violence against Ukranian cities last week-end and any death.
The Ukrainian initiative to share info with Russians families about the dead and POW is a very good move.
A public database with pictures, documents, names etc of all the casualties would be a great resource.
Just yesterday I read US Intel put casualties at about 1500 for each side.
Can’t blame them. The new KIA EV cars are pretty dope.
Their cremation-mobile will help disguise the real numbers.
Does Ukraine claim killed or casualties? Huge difference but could easily be lost in translation or even by someone simply using the wrong word, a ton of people always think that killed and casualties are the same thing.

But I have a lot of reasons not to believe Putin.
So the real number is probably around 4K, which is absolutely insane after only 1 week of fighting

Reminder, those are confirmed by photo. The number is most likely higher. I cannot imagine the human casualties being that low.
