Slovak border is open for all war refugees.
All official border crossings are open.
Ukrainians with biometric passports currently do not need any visas to enter.
Refugees without passports will be considered individually, but will most likely be allowed to enter.

Be mindful, that due to general mobilization, eligible ukrainian males will probably be denied an exit.
Also, refugees don’t need to prove Covid-19 vaccination status, negative test or recovery certificate. If transiting, no registration to [eHranica](https://korona.gov.sk/en/ehranica/) is necessary. [source SK](https://www.teraz.sk/najnovsie/uvz-povinna-karantena-neplati-pre-o/614587-clanok.html)
Pets are also allowed, but some will need to pass 5 day quarantine. There should be help available for anyone needing it at the border. Volunteers, temporary accomodation, food, clothing.
If you need help, you can check [here](https://www.ktopomozeukrajine.sk/) (also useful for those, who want to help).
If you are transiting to another country (or within Slovakia), you can use all ZSSK trains free of charge, by showing an ukrainian passport or ID card. You can also use mandatory reservation trains without a reservation. [source SK/UA](https://www.zssk.sk/aktuality/mimoriadne-opatrenie-vo-vlakoch-zssk-v-suvislosti-s-konfliktom-na-ukrajine/)
All public transport in Bratislava and Trnava regions is also free with UA passport or ID card [source](https://dpb.sk/sk/zmeny-a-obmedzenia/obcania-ukrajiny-mozu-bezplatne-cestovat-spojmi-ids-bk-preukazu-sa-dokladom), [source](https://www.trnava-vuc.sk/aktuality/ttsk-zupa-umoznuje-ukrajincom-bezplatne-cestovat-primestskou-dopravou/)
To find a connection, you can use [ZSSK](https://www.zssk.sk/) or more general [cp.sk](http://cp.sk/).
Don’t forget we use a different time zone, 1h behind UA (currently CET = UTC+01)
Our parliament has recently [passed](https://www.nrsr.sk/web/Default.aspx?sid=schodze/hlasovanie/hlasovanie&ID=47520) a law, that will simplify asylum process and work permits for refugees.
There are already lots of Ukrainians living and working in Slovakia – the culture is similar, language is not that hard to learn and people are generally quite accomodating.

Polish borders are also open to UA citizens
Great and useful info, please pin this post
We are currently standing with our car 1km from the border in Uzhorod. Didn’t move for 30 Minutes. I’ll update when we cross the border.
Edit 10:25: Police say if it’s not getting better, they’ll bring tents with coffee and tea.. people on foot seem to be let in faster.
Edit 11:10: Still no movement at all.
Edit 13:30: As others have pointed out: it’s expected to take 10 hours. It goes very slowly. So far there was a Lawyer offering help and there are other people offering warm food and more. We are lucky and don’t need anything.
Edit 15:15: There was one family that had to leave the car to take the kids to the toilet and they missed when we could drive a little bit more. Now everyone is trying to get them back to their spot in the queue. We made about 150-200m so far, but the border seems to be nearer than i thought… not much of an update, i just wanted to tell about people being nice and the situation could be a lot worse.
Edit 19:00: I don’t know if anyone is still reading.. we are still waiting. My estimation is, that it will take 12 hours or more. We got offered water, fruits, tea, butterbrot (sandwiches), sweets and more. People still seem calm and helpful.
Edit 23:15: General update and a little bit of an explanation on our situation.
General: It’s really slow. People seen quite ‘relaxed’. I didn’t see anything worrying except of course that this all happens. It’s sad to see men coming back alone after bringing wife and kids to the border. It’s sad to see people obviously in shock… but no one is aggressive. We feel safe.
I think i should write about me too. I don’t want anyone to assume i’m Ukrainian or that i lost ‘everything’ or whatever. So here is what happened for me and my family: I’m not Ukrainian, but my Wife and the 2 Kids that i see as my own are. I lived here fulltime for only a little bit more than a year.
About 3 or 4 weeks ago I startet to get worried. I started to buy supplies, bought a car and made everything ready. Last weekend we decided that it will most likely end bad and drove from near Dnipro to Tuskavets. We is my Wife, our two Kids and Grandma. When the new invasion started we went to Uzhhorod. We where not sure if we can get the Kids out without the permission of their bio-dad and waited a little bit longer. Now we are at the border. We have a lot of what is important to us in our car, because we had a chance to plan.
We have everything we need. My Family will maybe lose a lot and we are worried about it, but we are lucky to have gotten out without any danger. We are lucky. We are in contact with the rest of our family and our friends and we are deeply sorry for everyone that is struggling and in danger. I don’t have the words to describe it more right now.
I startet to write here purely to write about the situation an this side of the border and maybe get some infos.
But people started to tell me, that i don’t have to worry and asking if i’m ok, so i feel i owed an explanation.
Sorry for the wall of text.
Update 0:20: It seems to go faster now. I guess they changed the process because there must be hundreds of cars behind us now. We did hear, that they did check every car completely. Maybe now they only check some cars? Idk.
Thanks for the post. Very useful info.
I am travelling to Slovakia tomorrow and plan to travel to the border to offer a free taxi service, food, water, etc. – is there anything else I could provide?
Additionally, where is the help described above most needed?
Thanks in advance and keep strong to those who are currently travelling.
If anyone wants to cross through our border with pets, here’s all the useful information: https://imgur.com/a/8gwNuj5
All the credit goes to u/Alexis2552 for compiling and translating this info, I merely compiled it through Imgur in case someone would not be able to access that thread in r/Ukraine.
By Leo Express’ site they still provide bus transport from ukraine to slovakia
EDIT: vyzeraju legit, su potvrdeni cez Dennik N.

Edit: u/UrielSVK neprinete tento celý post? Sú tu celkom podstatné informácie, môžu pomôcť.
Hey, I’m in Austria and am wondering if clothes donations for Ukrainian refugees are needed at the moment? I’d be able to get the clothes to Bratislava somehow, but I’m not sure whether they’re even useful and if there’s a way to have them brought to the border areas.
Mozes pridat do prveho prispevku aj wiki stranku, zdielal to tu iny uzivatel:

Samozrejme, slovenska verzia je velmi strucna, existuje aj ceska verzia.
Hi! I’ve never posted on reddit before, so I hope I’m posting this in the right place.
I’m travelling to the Slovakian/Ukrainian border from the UK to pick up a family member who will hopefully be crossing the border sometime on Friday. We’re hoping to get her on the train from Central Ukraine to Uzhhorod, and then get her to cross at the pedestrian crossing at Velke Slemence.
What would be the best way for me to get to Velke Slemence from Kosice (the airport)? I’ve seen that there are buses to Vysne Nemecke, but I can’t find any to Velke Slemence. Is the distance to Velke Slemence to Vysne Nemecke walkable? Are there taxis? Currently, with so many refugees passing through, will my relative and I be able to find each other (phone signal) and find accommodation nearby, or transport back to Kosice within a day? Is there anything we should definitely take into account or book in advance?
I’m just trying to get an idea of the situation on the ground. Thank you SO much to anyone who can help!
