Advice Wanted: Bergen Hiking & Fishing Itinerary

  1. Hello! My wife and I will be going to Norway for the first time this summer and we are very excited. Wanted to get some local knowledge on an upcoming trip. I’ve done a ton of research, but may have missed some things.

    A bit about us:

    * Experienced backpackers/hikers in the US, first time going international

    * Trying to find the balance between great hikes, fishing, and getting a local Norwegian experience

    * Most of the time we do road trips, so comfortable driving. Current itinerary has about 14hr of driving over the whole trip, would like to stay around there or less.

    * Member of DNT

    * Will have a rental car and all of our needed gear (besides for glacier walk).

    Would love advice on the hikes I’ve selected and fishing advice, but open to changing it up if you have a better idea. Thank you!

  2. You want to cover a LOT of territory. I would cut the number of hikes back by half and use the extra time to soak in being up in the mountains. That will give you the chance to enjoy the experience instead of having to rush off to the next thing. One other hike in the area is Dronningsstein. I am an American married to a woman from Kinsarvik so I sort of know the area. Also, regarding fishing, you will need permits for the rivers/lakes.
