One thing I’ve noticed with British palaces compared to French, German and Russian palaces is that they often seem more plain – like they’re not painted nor are they decorated with gold. Is there a particular reason for that? Wealth? Power?
I imagine if you’re born somewhere like this and don’t become at least Prime Minister you really disappoint your parents.
