Very well secured infrastructure from germany

  1. There is a big wall around it. And if there is a big wall, your are not allowed to cross it. So people don’t cross it.

Most of the time it works just fine.

This doesn’t seems to be a critical infrastructure, or they would be barbed wire around it.

  2. It is meant to show you that you are not meant to enter this area, while the gate allows large vehicles entry.

It is not meant to be impossible to acess. After all whoever would take the effort to try to break a lock probably would try to climb the fence first, wich would be far from hard.

  3. A 1.8m fence certainly wouldn’t stop anybody from entering.

First of all it clearly states “Feuerwehrzufahrt” on the sign, and the fire brigade most likely doesn’t like to fumble around with a lock in case of emergency.

Second: the fence isn’t there to protect the infrastructure from morons like you, it there to protect morons like you from the high voltage inside the infrastructure and its surroundings.

  4. All right, but…

    1. …did you get into those buildings with the same ease?
    2. …just how critical do you suppose this piece of “infrastructure” is?

  5. The Fence says, do Not enter. End if someone enters the Company, in this case Probably deutsche Bahn, is safe in case of an insurence case. For example if someone getting injured somehow. Thats all about it

  6. The fence is not there to keep anyone who is determined to enter out. There is no barbed wire, and not even spikes on top. Climbing it in seconds is utterly trivial.

The fence is there for legal reasons. Legally, it means the area is enclosed, so what you did in the video is trespassing. It is also potentially a bunch of other crimes, because you tampered with the lock.

If the area is not enclosed, entering it does not necessarily mean trespassing. You are allowed to enter unenclosed spaces and must only leave if told to leave.

Since almost everyone knows what a fence means, there is no further need to do anything. People stay out, and if they do trespass, it is easy to bring legal proceedings.

Ease of access for maintenance crews or the fire brigade might be desirable here, and this type of lock does exactly that: Allow authorized personell easy access.

There is also another legal aspect here: There might be high voltage or other equipment in there, and the fence is there to protect people like you from harming themselves on the equipment. It keeps people from accidentally stumble onto it, and if you *do* get injured while trespassing and breaching a barrier, then it is on you, not them.

So please, just stop tampering with the property of other people.

  7. My garden isn’t “secured” either. You can just walk past the house into it. And you can probably enter from there through some rather big glass doors.

That doesn’t mean that most people would do that, or that doing so wouldn’t be trespass and breaking and entering.
