> Veteran Democratic strategist David Axelrod has raised concerns about President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the Justice Department, warning that her loyalty to Trump may override her constitutional duties as attorney general.
> In a Thursday evening interview with CNN, Axelrod argued that Bondi’s primary allegiance would be to Trump rather than to the principles of the Constitution or the independence of the Justice Department. “So, he gets in her what he wants, which is someone who will be responsive to him first, not to the duties of the attorney general or the Constitution,” Axelrod said. “He wants political control over the Justice Department, and she is fully willing and capable of carrying that out as a political functionary whom he trusts.”
> Axelrod’s comments came shortly after Trump formally announced Bondi’s nomination to head the Department of Justice, following the withdrawal of another controversial pick—former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.). Gaetz, a staunch Trump ally, had faced significant resistance from Senate Republicans and was widely considered a poor fit for the role. Axelrod, who served as a senior advisor to former President Barack Obama, described Gaetz’s withdrawal as “a good move” and a “horrific choice” that was doomed from the start.
> “Clearly, it was going to crash and burn,” Axelrod told CNN’s Erin Burnett. “He shouldn’t have been there in the first place.”
> However, Axelrod warns that Bondi’s loyalty to Trump would undermine the integrity of the Justice Department, which has long been expected to operate independently of political influence. “It’s a very daunting proposition for those who care about the integrity of the Justice Department,” Axelrod said, expressing skepticism about whether the American public, or Senate Republicans, would be comfortable with the nomination.
> Axelrod’s comments highlight growing concerns among political observers who view Trump’s cabinet picks as prioritizing loyalty and political control over the constitutional duties of the office.
Oh, we know that. *Every* one of trumps pick will serve the “man” before our country.
That goes for every pocket he has this isn’t news it’s the new normal. Get use to it.
So will every other pick of his. Maybe Garland shouldn’t have sat on his fucking hands for 4 years.
In other news, the sun will rise tomorrow.
On her knees
That’s a feature, not a bug.
Trump’s first pick was a red herring. He knew Gaetz would fail, so he could put in someone he’d wanted from the start. But if he’d started with Bondi, SHE would have failed — and maybe he didn’t have a similar choice left. I suspect most, or all, of his other “first” choices are the same kind of thing: someone manifestly unsuitable, to be replaced with someone not QUITE as unsuitable at first glance, but actually pretty horrible when you thought about it a little more. It would be nice to see the Senate refuse all of Trump’s proposed cabinet posts, but expecting integrity from Republicans is foredoomed. I hope they can refuse some of them, though. Bondi is one of them.
The thing is, if enough of Trump’s picks are rejected, maybe article 25 can come into play and Trump can go back to being on trial again. And Vance is on notice that he can be stuffed, too.
All we can do is let his voters see what they’ve afforded themselves (and unfortunately us).
This guy is insightful.
**Long time Democrat Party activist, has criticism of Trump.
Liberals accept it uncritically.**
All his picks are of people who are willing to serve him.
And in other news, water is wet.
Last time we lucked out and had a few people that were corrupt but still had a backbone and followed some form of a rule of law. This time that won’t happen. Russian assets are going all in. Might not be the time to get them gold teeth.
If you consider the fact they prosecuted him with hundreds of cases to prevent from running for the presidency. This kind of makes sense with these nominations that can protect you
That’s the point of every appointee lol. People need to be told this?
None if his picks , the gop house and senate will ever support the constitution, laws, regulations, ethics, and above all -will never support the rights, health and well-being of the average American . Their support and loyalty will always be to trump and the American nazi taliban party
Well duh!!
Any doubts? Wake the fuck up people
No!
Just like his last AG.
Were you expecting any different? I mean, really….were ya?
That’s kinda the point Dave
And in other news, Elon Musk was never actually concerned about the climate, green energy or the human species.
Tell us something we don’t know.
The same as Trumps last AG
Pam Bondi is a nightmare jackass. That is all.
Mr obvious
Merrit Garland served Biden instead of the Constitution. Since when did the democrats think this is an important issue
This is not news. They MUST be”fall in step” sycophants before their accepted into the club. The Constitution is about to be SHREDDED.
As will his entire administration.
Only if she’s voted in. There seems to be a lot of flak from republicans who will be up for reelection in two years. They’re coming at trumps picks that have no business being put where the Great Pumpkin inserts them
That’s why all his picks are his picks
Nawwww
It is frightening!

In other news the sky is blue and the grass is green.
Most of the country who saw this coming simply don’t care anymore. We warned everyone. The country voted for him just to spite us. Let Americans find out now.
