Hi. I always thought Zürcherstrasse is the only correct spelling, until I passed through Züricherstraße, Erzingen, Klettgau: https://maps.app.goo.gl/K76fFp68542xfKDV6
Then I realised Google Maps shows many Züricherstraßes, but all in Germany as far as I checked.
Is it a historical thing, a German vs. Swiss standard German thing, or just a coincidence with both spellings being equally valid?

Just germans making a mistake, nothing more id assume
Switzerland without i, Germany with i.
In Germany the correct spelling is Züricherstraße (with I), while in Switzerland it’s without I, Zürcherstrasse.
Well, in Switzerland “Züricher” is basically always contracted to “Zürcher”. If you grew up in Switzerland, this probably sounds like the only possible way of saying & writing it, because you never heard something else.
However for the Germans, who don’t deal with Zürich everyday, that doesn’t sound so natural. You’ll notice that German journalists etc. will almost always refer to the “Neue Zür**i**cher Zeitung”, despite the official name is of course “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”.
According to the Duden, both forms are correct.
Of course such contractions aren’t generally unknown to Germans. After all, they also typically write “Münchner” and not “Münchener”. (And again: both forms are correct according to the Duden.)
