Romania’s pro-European Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu was running neck and neck with a far-right, pro-Russian candidate, first-round partial results showed Sunday, with 85 percent of votes counted.
Calin Georgescu had nearly 22 percent of the vote to 21.6 percent for Ciolacu, a score that if confirmed with all ballots counted would put both men in the second-round run-off.
