Polish network operator Play is now offering the Hammer Construction 2 Thermal 5G to its subscribers. The smartphone, thanks to the advanced Heat View sensor, allows users to detect temperatures ranging from -10 C to 550 C at a distance of up to 1000 meters. The phone’s camera and processor specifications do not differ from modern standards, and it is also equipped with a rangefinder and an exceptionally efficient 6500 mAh battery that allows one to use the device for 21 hours. The smartphone can be purchased as part of a subscription contract in the Black Week promotions at Play from PLN 70 per month.

The smartphone thermal camera records a stream of photons reflected from an object’s surface, and then generates a thermal image, called a thermogram. In such a preview, each color is assigned a different temperature value, which allows the user to identify the distribution of heat in the observed object. Typically, cool objects are marked in blue, and hot ones in red. For construction workers, thermal imaging will help detect leaks in installations, determine where electrical cables run, and check the tightness of doors and windows.
