Hi,
Unfortunately I wont be able to save/borrow 10,332 EUR in time to apply for winter semester study this year, so I emailed the Germany embassy in London and asked them whether a guarantee from my parents would be enough to be accepted for a student visa.
I explained earnings, savings and any debts (their whole finances) however I just got a super short reply telling me to re-check this website: [https://uk.diplo.de/uk-en/02/visa/university-studies/2449178](https://uk.diplo.de/uk-en/02/visa/university-studies/2449178)
This link^^ doesn’t refer anywhere to parents income. Only;
Blocked account
Scholarship
Student loan
or guarantee from a GERMAN resident
Whereas this subreddits FAQ : [https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/wiki/studying/financing](https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/wiki/studying/financing)
States: ” If you don’t have the required savings (see above), then someone else can guarantee that they will support you financially. In most cases, this is your parents, who sign a letter to that effect, and have to show that they have enough income and/or savings to make good on their pledge. ”
Does Germany not accept parents financial assets as proof of financing anymore?
And if they still do like this subreddit (and other sources say) is ~ 54000 EUR household income around the ballpark for acceptable student visa applications
Thanks for any help

You didn’t finish the relevant section of the wiki.
“but unless they are German permanent residents (against whom the German state could enforce collection, if necessary), the immigration authorities may not accept their guarantee. Speak to the embassy in case you’re unsure.”
I guess the rules changed since the UK is out of the EU. Probably a bigger hassle to make your parents liable for the guarantee now.
https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/visa-service/buergerservice/faq/08-finanzierung/606696 it says here that parent proof of income is okay. I’m from the US, and provided pay stubs and a signed and notarized letter from my parents that said they would support me for the duration of my studies. It worked without a problem for the residence permit
