How Trump’s tariffs could drive up the cost of batteries, EVs, and more. The administration’s hostile trade plans threaten to slow the shift to cleaner industries, boost inflation, and stall the economy. “This is going to raise the cost of clean energy and that will slow down the revolution.”

Yes, there will be fuckery.
Battery cost in USA are only high because mines can’t be built cheaply. When that changes batteries will be cheap as dirt
Is it worth it to take advantage of overworked, mistreated Chinese workers so that we can have cheap shit?
I don’t own an electric vehicle, but my understanding is that the batteries have to be replaced after a certain amount of time. If the price of battery replacement skyrockets, then what happens to the electric cars that need battery replacement but can’t be replaced either due to scarcity or inflated pricing?
Orange man bad. Status quo good. Every article I read. China can undercut pricing on every product due to lax working conditions, cheap government loans, subsidies etc. Their goal is to dominate and then once own, leverage it in their favor. They for whatever reason still have developing country trade status under WTO. Not a fair actor, a good actor. Tariffs are a way to obtain concessions from them and help USA develop our own supply chains since when you equalize cost of prodction via a tariff, usa or other western countries can make things and sell via a viable business.
That’s OK. Other countries will surely benefit so it is a global win.
