Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Brussels, the added 0.48%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Umicore SA (EBR:), which rose 2.81% or 0.29 points to trade at 10.60 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:) added 2.68% or 0.68 points to end at 26.06 and UCB SA (EBR:) was up 2.33% or 4.20 points to 184.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ackermans & Van Haaren NV (EBR:), which lost 4.78% or 9.10 points to trade at 181.40 in late trade. D’Ieteren NV (EBR:) declined 2.59% or 5.30 points to end at 199.50 and Solvay SA (EBR:) shed 2.05% or 0.64 points to 30.61.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 61 to 38 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 2.86% or 78.35 to $2,658.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.85% or 2.03 to hit $69.21 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.63% or 1.96 to trade at $72.67 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.56% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 107.02.
