  1. I think some these women are lying and drinking far more than they’re leading everyone to believe

  2. Shock horror, drinking too much alcohol can kill you.

Indeed it can, but our culture, society and media is awash with continual references to drinking.

If drink is making your life shit… try your very best to stop drinking.

  3. Think we need to stop normalising drink…like we have done for fast food with kids and smoking. These are young ladies and their drinking isn’t “insane” by alcoholic standards…it’s more “relax, wine o’clock, helps me unwind” drinking…which is so damaging as it’s considered fine.

  4. I drink rarely, maybe once a week, a pint or two, but I’ve noticed that most people’s social activities revolve around food and drinking. Like we don’t know what to do with ourselves outside of those two things.

People can’t just go for a walk, they go for a walk to the pub. They can’t go for a team lunch, they go for a team lunch at the pub. It’s socially accepted to just drink, regardless of the circumstances. We need to change our view on that. We need to find alternatives to drinking, as it just ruins our health and relationships.

  5. Really??? Drank all the time in the Army for years, took steroids worked hard played hard…..all liver enzymes bloods came back fine.

Sounds like the usual BBC scare story. Same as the ‘Sarms’ and laughable ‘Roid Rage’ rubbish they’ve done in the past as well.

3 bottles of wine a day is stupid.

  6. I suspect my parents drink 4-5 standard drinks a day at least, based on past behaviour and what I see when I visit (often see more than that, but its xmas). When I lived with them I joined in sometimes and it felt normal to me.

I feel almost lucky that I get horrendous hangovers and even immediate reactions to drinking, because it means I only indulge occasionally and always in social settings. I think I would be drinking way too much if it wasn’t for this, the nature and nurture sides of it both impact me.

My mum in particular plays dumb about how bad alcohol is for you. She’s got a heart condition and guzzles wine, like literally gulps it down like it’s water after a hard workout. But how do you get someone to listen who just won’t help themselves, before it’s too late to turn things around? As the article says, people only find out when it’s right near the end for them. 36 hours to live for someone in their 30s on presentation to hospital!
