What in God’s name does this word mean?

  1. “Beisitzer”. Depending on context a co-member of a committee or at lay judge, somebody who watches a public discussion or such.

  2. compare it to a bystander.

    in a similar meaning as eyewitness/earwitness. the fact that there is a seat (…sitzer) means the person is to write down, help a judge, report or witness something at a public gathering.

  3. In most contexts this would translate to “observer” in an official role (e.g. observer of a council or board, etc.)

  4. This does not rise to the level of needing to invoke the name of God to solve. 😅
