WOODSTOCK, Ala. (WBRC) – Police officers in Woodstock are looking for the person behind a brazen store break-in in west Alabama.
Police said someone used construction equipment to ram into the Woodstock Drug Store in Bibb County causing major damage.

We’re told someone fired up some nearby construction equipment, a roller of some type, and drove it through the front door of Woodstock Drug Store, running over all the merchandise on metal shelves inside and then took a right turn and tried to drive out through the side wall of the business.

What was left behind? Colossal damage and an expensive repair job on the way.
The bold burglary all went down around 5 a.m. on Sunday morning.
“It was very shocking,” said Tammy Joyce.
Joyce is a certified pharmacy tech at Woodstock Drugs. She shuddered at the thought of what could’ve happened.
“One of the first thoughts was thank God nobody was here because that is beyond my comprehension,” said Joyce.
“The alarms went off,” said Woodstock mayor Jeff Dodson.
Mayor Dodson said the break-in wasn’t the only shocking part. Somehow, the suspect was able to fire up a nearby road construction steamroller and drive it through the front door, a roller that can weigh anywhere from one to 20 tons. Once inside, the culprit took a right turn and tried to drive out through a side wall.
The owners say the suspect got away with hundreds of dollars worth of drugs.
“It was within a hundred yards of the drug store and still under investigation,” said Mayor Dodson.

And what followed is the talk of Woodstock, a story that demonstrated the tight-knit closeness of this town of just under 2,000.
“People come together,” said Joyce.
And they most certainly did in this case. Around 50 strangers and friends turned out all day Sunday to sweep away the debris and board it up so the family-owned drug store could get back to business Monday morning.
“You know, people care. We’re brothers and sisters, we’re neighbors. That’s community right there and it’s what community should be,” said Joyce.
“That says a lot about the business, the family and staff that work there,” Mayor Dodson said.
The locals say that kind of community response turned out to be the best medicine of all, an overwhelming good coming out of bad.
The owner of Woodstock Drug says he has no idea how much it will cost to repair the building.
As of Monday afternoon, Nov. 25, Woodstock Police say there’ve been no arrests in the case.
