Couldn’t get hold of them
Look their number up online (don’t use the one in the letter) and ask them.
Well they appear to be a legit company, although everyone hates them. It also costs an arm and a leg to call them apparently
Is the company van registered to the company address or yours? I would have expected them to have written to the company at the registered address not to you personally. How would they know you were driving a company vehicle? How would they even know who you were?
I’ve had a couple of these recently (mistaken identity – not my fine to pay!) And they always state who the client is, what the final date before escalations is, and roughly what the actual incident was that warranted a fine. This letter does not do this. If it’s not a scam, it’s a very unprofessional letter.
Look up the company online, find their contact number, and ask them if they have your name on record.
This is legitimate, although I was under the impression that Bristow and Suitor only enforced CCJs.
You would normally get a letter from TFL first if you didn’t pay a charge.
Don’t collection agencies collect the debt plus a “administrative charge” on top
is this for ULEZ not CC?
Sorry, k, I can’t help but I just wanted you to know that it’s quite easy to see your personal information in this post, maybe after you get an answer you should delete the post, or repost without the address line?
Knew someone who used to be a director for them, can confirm they are a real debt collector !
I had the displeasure of dealing with Bristow & Sutor before, and they do unfortunately enforce ULEZ/Congestion Charge stuff for TFL. They are scumbags. If you suspect they are lying about being B&S to scam some cash, talk with the real Bristow & Sutor directly for clarification.
Bristow and Sutor are a real debt collector. The phone number or that letter matches the phone number on their website for Tfl Enquiries.
So it is likely a legit letter. The supposed debt may be a mistake or it may not be. I’d ring them up and find out.
It is real but they are those most EVIL FXCKS in the UK.
They are basically extortionists. I don’t know how they can operate.
Dear Sir/Madam is usually a red flag. If I receive a letter I expect them to at least know my last name
As others have said, they’re real people and awful awful pricks. £45 seems awfully low for those particular scam artists though.
Contact TFL first, give them your details, they are more pleastant and reasonable to talk to, and that way you can also not let this happen again. Maybe they will also take your outstanding payment.
They enforce council tax too
When it comes to suspicious companies, best first resort is to look for Company House number (in this case is bottom of the first page). They’re registered apparently.

I would definitely check TFL website, maybe call them to see what is the case, maybe it’s mistake or need to appeal.
GL!
Look at Beat the Baliffs on FB …
I had a bloke from Bristow and Sutor turn up at my door for some sort of car fine, looking for a bloke I’d never heard of. They are real and, gallingly, the thing to do seemed to be to provide “evidence” that I wasn’t the guy they were looking for in the form of a council tax bill. Citizens advice agreed that this is the thing to do.
I was quite confused by the term “enforcement agent”, it would have all been a lot clearer if he’d said he was a bailiff.
They don’t have your name so unable to take you to court
If it’s a company van, hand it over to your line manager ir finance.
Total scam! Glad they don’t have my address but they have my email and number and have been spamming me for a month. I’ve never owned or driven a car in the UK.
Do yourself a favour and ring citizens advice before replying to anything.
If you lodge an appeal against TFL (or whoever passed the debt to the agency) they can’t increase the payment until a decision has been made on the appeal.
The debt can also be passed back to the original party, despite what the debt agency will tell you. (Side note, the debt agency will lie to you and be aggressive on the phone, don’t be intimidated by them.)
Also, if you’re classed as a vulnerable person (you have some mental illness, depression etc, or if you have young kids) you can communicate this to the agency and they cannot show up at your house.
Just my 2p from fighting a scumbag agency over a tax bill recently lol.
