HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Dr. Alessio Fasano was named the Chief Science and Medical Officer to run the Enfamil Science Program for Evansville-based Mead Johnson.

The researcher and author from Harvard Medical School was appointed Monday morning for this newly created position.

Dr. Fasano will continue his work as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and will also serve as chair to study sections at the agency.

Officials with Mead Johnson say he is considered an expert in celiac disease, gut microbiome and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Dr. Fasano has authored more than 450 peer reviewed papers and filed more than 160 patent applications.
