UK condemns participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in Paralympics

  1. Unsure how I feel about this one.

Providing the athletes are competing in good faith, not doping etc. etc.

…and providing they’re not on some kind of soapbox stating that the Ukraine deserves to be invaded / promoting the war…

…presumably they’ve put great time and energy into training and preparing. As individuals, they’ve invested themselves.

In other words I’d feel bad if *I* were stopped from doing something because I happen to be British and *Britain* did something shit. I am not my country.

They’re apparently allowed to compete as “neutral participants” so they’re not representing Russia or Belarus when they do so, right?

  2. When demonising your own disabled doesn’t give you the same thrill anymore, why not try condemnation of other nations disabled as well?

  3. What moral standards we have!

Why the hell are *we* sending athletes to a country actively committing [**genocide**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uyghur_genocide)?

The same country that is hosting this skiing jamboree is literally destroying a culture and people.

Thousands of children torn from their mother’s arms and we still fucking go there to ski.

    What a heap of shit.

  4. So they are saying the athletes should be excluded, however if it is decided that they can attend will the Brits have the courage to refuse to compete themselves? I bet they will then still want to compete and therefore have it both ways.

  5. If I wanted to sell the average Russian citizen on the idea that the outside world is unlikeable, this is the kind of thing i’d point to!
