>“It’s a funny thing when you have something that was making and breaking you at the same time,” Knightley said about the “Pirates” franchise. “I was seen as shit because of them, and yet because they did so well I was given the opportunity to do the films that I ended up getting Oscar nominations for. They were the most successful films I’ll ever be a part of and they were the reason that I was taken down publicly. So they’re a very confused place in my head.”
>When asked about the possibility of her starring in a Hollywood franchise again, Knightley shut it down by saying: “The hours are insane. It’s years of your life, you have no control over where you’re filming, how long you’re filming, what you’re filming.”
She’s a great actress and one of the most acclaimed of her generation. She must’ve let the perpetually online stans get to her, because in no way could she ever be considered “shit” in a role.
I just learned today she was in Phantom Menace. I always thought it was just Natalie Portman. Head exploded!
This post title ‘Is Confusing’ as ‘F—‘, why is ‘It This Way’?
How much control did she have of shooting location and schedule of her other projects??
Been busy since she was a teen, all interesting stuff, mostly better roles than pirates
I thought the directors had control over what they’re filming, and the actors got paid millions of dollars to do what they’re told.
Well live your life but I’m not sure an actor gets to control where things are filmed or when usually. You sign a contract, go do the work. What am I missing?
Guess the POTC films only made her 3/4’s of her total net worth. Ya that’s shit
Keira Knightley seems like someone who I should find irritating, but then I don’t. More power to her, I guess.
Seriously, read the article before commenting – it’ll take maybe two minutes. So many comments here are explicitly addressed just one click away…..
She finds her feelings about Pirates are mixed because yes she made a tonne of money and got the fame she could then leverage in the industry to get other roles, but she was also 17 and in a blockbuster franchise which was not really the sort of the role that she loved, additionally because it was a franchise she was committed for the long haul despite having no idea what that would look like in advance.
She was great in the Pirates franchise.
It’s a shame it’s not the most positive memory for her.
I totally get it … every day I go to work….. soooooo annnddddd……??
She was a fantastic actress in Pirates, why would that be bad
I don’t really have an opinion on what she said. But here’s what I feel. If you won’t write the words on the headline, you probably don’t deserve the quote.
She was so good in Pirates and Elizabeth Swan is an awesome character. I love those first three movies.
