Being seasoned travellers throughout the European continent, Sonali and Kenan were positive about basing their destination wedding surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty, regal architecture, and wholesome Mediterranean food. “We were very keen on incorporating our personalities and travels into the wedding themes,” shared the globe-trotting couple. At the heart of their vision was a serene, spiritual ambiance. With an intimate guest list of just under 120, the wedding came alive with digital chants by the ocean, all set against the magical backdrop of a moonlit sky.

From a one-off suggestion by their wedding planners, Malta was a sweet surprise for the couple: “As soon as we checked it out, we were straight away in love with it; it had some Italian elements as well which aligned well with what we wanted,” explained the bride. After a few exploratory visits to the Mediterranean lands, they settled on The Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta, on the main island. The bride described her favourite picks from the destination as “the white-washed buildings set against the sea, which is close to my heart because I grew up in a coastal country in Africa.” The groom, on the other hand, appreciated Malta’s rich history and medieval charm. “It’s a really raw destination, not too commercialised—which makes it ideal for a wedding setting,” he noted.
