In recent years, several new projects have begun construction in the Howald and Cloche d’Or areas of the capital.
Here are some of the main upcoming projects
Along the Boulevard des Scillas
Since the launch of the tram extension towards the national stadium in July, the thoroughfare has become more accessible for drivers and other road users. But there are still works ongoing all along the route.
The mayor of Hesperange – which includes Howald – had complained about safety, especially for pedestrians, when this stretch of the tram opened, saying the City of Luxembourg had rushed its schedule.
The Beton Feidt site next to a complex that includes a Cactus Hobbi that is due to close is set to be vacated, demolished and redeveloped. The new project will include housing (50%), and offices and shops.
Further up the road, three more buildings, out of a total of five which are planned, are under construction. These will primarily house offices.

Midfield, the link between Howald and the Cloche d’Or
A huge project called Midfield is underway between Howald and Cloche d’Or. It will be a new district covering a total area of 40 hectares between the Luxembourg and Bettembourg railway line. The Gluck roundabout will form the northern boundary with the Gasperich motorway interchange to the south.

The Fonds Kirchberg is responsible for drawing up the Midfield master plan, a task involving coordination with the various players involved (the government, CFL, private investors, etc.).
A school complex, an 18-storey CFL multifunctional tower, the Howald multimodal interchange (see below) and residential buildings are all due to be built here. The A3 motorway is to disappear under an archway, while the existing P+R is to be relocated. The first projects are due to be completed by 2030.
Howald multimodal interchange
The multimodal interchange at Howald is set to undergo some major changes. The half bridge over which the tram travels is set to be widened to accomodate a second track. The tram currently runs only on one lane over the bridge, slowing down traffic.

More work is continuing on the Howald multimodal interchange, which is due to be completed in 2026 and will become a hub for trains, trams and buses.
Hotel and housing on either side of Boulevard de Kockelscheuer
Just opposite the Cloche d’Or shopping centre, on the other side of Boulevard Raiffeisen, work began on a 150-room B&B hotel in autumn 2023. Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
There are three more buildings planned next door, including three office blocks: The Stairs (12 storeys and 9,700m2 of office space), The Rock (8,700m2) and The Lofthouse (5,000m2).
The permits for these buildings have been received and work will begin once the 50% pre-let mark has been reached.

The entrance to the original Cloche d’Or undergoing change
PwC is to move in to replace the former Renault Luxembourg garage and offices, which have been relocated to Belval. The audit and consultancy firm will thus be leaving its Crystal Park, where it moved over a decade ago.
PwC is set to move to the 33,000m2 campus next door planned by Atenor, which announced on Friday that it has obtained a €213 million green loan to build it. Earthworks are currently underway. The transfer is scheduled for 2027.

Right next door to this project led by Atenor is Exko, the first Cloche d’Or office building to be constructed from wood. It spans 4,000m² over five levels. The project is being developed by Iko Real Estate.

Botanica along the Route d’Esch
Construction on the Botanica project recently began. It is a property developed by Codic and the project is located on the premises of the former Titanium logistics site, which Codic acquired in 2022. Plans foresee eight office buildings, a hotel, shops and services and also a 2.1 hectare park.
The first two buildings in the complex are scheduled to be ready by early 2027, with the rest to be completed by 2030.

A ‘Forêt d’Or’ opposite the stadium
For now, the Cloche d’Or district’s souther border is Boulevard de Kockelscheuer. But this could change in the future with a hotel and leisure complex being planned by the Félix Giorgetti company.
The project will include a five star hotel, a three star hotel, an apartment hotel with 500 rooms, restaurants and a range of leisure facilties.
