Man’s just casually holding a city in his hands while being crowned by a holy bird. Also, uros is Finnish for male, so this dude must have been a true Chad.
The fresco in the OP is from [Gračanica monastery](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gra%C4%8Danica_Monastery), built by King Stefan Milutin, UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of dozens of churches that Milutin built or restored.
Subscribe to /r/700YearsAgo if you like. Exciting events are afoot with the Despenser War. Also, Dante died recently, which was interesting.
Ugh, eye carved out by stupid Ottomans, they did it to like 80% of other frescoes as well.
Is this actually Nandor??
Commonly know for wearing the same hat twice at the same time until an angel came and sorted out his impossible nonsense.
During Ottoman rule, in 1460, his remains were transferred to Sofia (today capital of Bulgaria) to be housed in the a monastery near the city church due to a plague epidemic. They were later transferred to the city’s new metripolitan church, Sveta Nedelya. Both that monastery and the church hence became known as “Sveti Kral” (Holy King).
