These MPs praised ‘brave’ Russian protesters – then voted to restrict protest in the UK

  1. Absolute hypocrites. Happy to support protests when it suits them. Same as the people who supported BLM protests during covid and then scorned anti lockdown protestors a month later for creating a superspreader event.

You can’t have it both ways. You either support people congregating in crowds or you don’t – regardless of that the protest is about

  2. “At the 2019 general election, Hart was selected to stand as the Conservative candidate for Hastings and Rye. At a constituency hustings on 5 December 2019, Hart was asked about an article she had shared on Facebook which suggested that people with learning difficulties should not be guaranteed a minimum wage. She defended the view, and said “it’s about the happiness to work”[10] and that “some people with learning difficulties, they don’t understand about money.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sally-Ann_Hart

    Prick

  3. Well I guess we need to try and vote them out when ever the next election is unless they make bojo pm for life

  4. These people are hypocrites of the highest order and lack anything resembling a social conscience, what more can you expect?

  5. why aren’t we getting reports about the sick old people that are being stopped from going to the hospital or the single mums who can’t get their kids to school??? come on. these are the important issues that affect everyone’s day to day life.

we must show a united front against these protests and any protest that disrupt anyone’s life in any way.

  6. Iraq war protest was huge, did fuck all and was vilified by the media. Can’t remember if the police got violent but I don’t think so. Insulate Britain: I’m pretty sure the average Brit, Journo and Tory politician has a worse opinion about IB protestors than Putin and his band of deplorables has for his own anti war protestors.

We are a country that absolutely does not tolerant dissent. Putin could only dream of having such a “well behaved” populace

  7. Plenty of the public don’t seem to value it anyway. People hated it when XR or Insulate Britain were blocking roads to protest climate change, or when vegans protested the likes of McDonald’s and KFC for extensive animal cruelty. As bad as these MPs are, there are plenty of people who would agree with them. The situation in Russia shows exactly why we should never lose the right to protest, just in case we really need to one day.

  8. Oh, Johnson would totally dickride the Putin regime if he thought he could get away with it. But thankfully he’s not that stupid to rip up our affiliation with NATO for some roubles.

  9. I know Tories have never liked democracy (despite blathering on about “Western civilisation” as a code word for xenophobia every now and then), but I was surprised to see the forces of illiberalism just keep ploughing on without even taking a breath given the anti-Putin rhetoric at the moment.

The situation in Ukraine is exactly where authoritarianism and corruption leads.
