This was always the plan; do illegal shit and it won’t matter if we win.
I’ve been listening to Kendrick’s DAMN album more and more recently.
“America, god bless you if it’s good to you”
Title: When Money Buys Power: The Elon Musk Case and the 2024 Election
Elon Musk’s recent involvement in a controversy surrounding his interaction with the American electoral process raises fundamental questions about democracy and the growing influence of capital in politics. His promise to offer one million dollars per day to voters in key states is not simply a media curiosity but a revelation of the troubles undermining our electoral system.
First, it is imperative to understand that money can buy many things, but it should not buy elections. Given that Musk is a prominent figure in the tech sector and a major influencer, his immense wealth grants him power that can potentially distort the democratic process. Even though judges have ruled on the legality of his actions, this should not lead us to minimize the gravity of its implications. Concerns about an electoral process already vulnerable to manipulation by a small elite are now being brought to light.
In this situation, several elements deserve examination. First, the notion of financial “giveaways” in a tone that feels more like a lottery than a call to vote raises ethical questions. This mechanism could encourage opportunistic behavior among voters, potentially skewing how they make crucial decisions about their future. By directly linking electoral participation to financial incentives, Musk has opened the door to exploitative interpretations of democratic values.
It is also essential to assess how this case could influence public perception of politics. In a context where prominent figures can manipulate the rules and structures surrounding elections, there is a risk of eroding citizens’ trust in their institutions. Democracy thrives on participation, but when this participation is perceived as bought rather than guided by convictions or principles, the legitimacy of the process is jeopardized.
To address these dilemmas, solutions must be proposed. Strict legislation regulating political contributions and incentives to vote is crucial. Complete transparency on campaign financing and initiatives like Musk’s could help restore trust. Additionally, raising awareness and educating voters about the implications of voting under the influence of money would be beneficial. This could lead to a better understanding of the importance of voting based on values, not monetary sums.
In conclusion, the saga surrounding Elon Musk and his intervention in the electoral process should not be a mere anecdote discussed at dinners. It must serve as a catalyst for a deeper debate on money in politics and how we can protect our democracy. As this incident demonstrates, civic vigilance against such abuses of power is not only desirable but essential for the continued health of our political system.
We all laughed at him for loosing money with Twitter. But he essentially got control of a massive portion of the global media conversation, AND control of America. Since anything is possible and laws don’t matter, I can imagine a future where an aging Trump appoints Musk to a de facto leadership position that soon becomes permanent. I seriously doubt there will be another election. Literally anything is possible. A convicted felon and rapist who tried to overthrow the country is now going to be back in charge of it. Anything could happen.
wonder if democrats are ever going to figure out the game has changed for like the last 20 years. gotta get your own media gotta get social media gotta start getting billionaire buddies to get friendly media outlets. just fixing problems and being good governance doesn’t work if it just gets dismantled every other election
The end of democracy is here and the Corporate States of America is official. Our oligarchs will have this country running on high profit “efficiencies” in no time! /s
Billionaires seem to get away with everything! Even a pretend billionaire like Trump’
Isn’t America supposed to be a country with rule of law? So why is it that the rich and powerful get away so many things?
Isn’t congress going to investigate social media influence on politics? What? They already did it but left musk alone? I wonder why?
I don’t know why people have such a hard time in understanding that it’s game over. They still continue to downplay the severity of the situation we are in and that the Republic they love was actively being tested and an entire population was being conditioned to be stupid and vote against their own interests.
Now unfortunately that many Democrats and those Republicans didn’t take the threat seriously it’s game over. All branches, Senate Republicans, house Republicans are seated with trump loyalists above all. The supreme Court is loaded with trump loyalists majority and every LASTING regulatory body will be headed by trump loyalists and all other supporting roles. There was a reason why the founders intended for all branches of government be blended and balanced.
Musk has more influence than we all know but we will see in the coming months. I have always felt like something was really wrong with that man long before he let out that he was a right wing wacko. If there is anything that can be done anymore, do not let that man colonize and claim mars for himself or you WILL see Total Recall play out in reality(minus aliens and 3 boob lady).
Money walks.
Like who even cares anymore? Why keep posting like something will ever happen
America, a bastion of democracy.
Didn’t someone go to jail for giving out water?
The richest man in the world just bought the most powerful govt in the world
I fucking hate that smug faced goblin
We’re done for.
Always feel a but sorry for Meanie. He probably could’ve sued but went with a dirty win on a random Smackdown instead. What a plonker.
Tiered legal system.
Reads like a headline from the Onion except it’s true.
All of the problems we face are entirely preventable
This is the saddest part of this whole situation. How easy it is to crumble our entire society with shiny social media posts and a lot of in your face crime and money.
We have front row watching dictatorship emerge .
Anyone else waiting for his self destructive behavior be too much for his money?
Yeah we’re a full blown oligarchy
Are we a nation of Oligarchs like Russia?
So a foreign born citizen with ties to Russia, is paying people to vote. I’m so confused as to why none of America’s governmental institutions are stepping up to protect the people from malice. Isn’t that what they are there for? Like isn’t the Military at all concerned about Trump’s plans? How can they “uphold democracy” when they can’t even protect themselves.
Who could have guessed in 2004 that the rise of Social Media would bring Americas downfall… Putin probably.
Lmfao. We put people in prison for *decades* over *cannabis.* Fuck this place.
Would have been nice if the Democrats ran against the billionaire class. Seems like an easy layup.
Thank you Buckley v. Valeo and Citizens United. Best court decisions money could buy.
Can we stop buying teslas and unsubribe to x now?
So basically, our legal system no longer works. Because there’s a lot of high profile people blatantly committing crimes, but not facing any consequences.
Citizens united destroyed democracy
I live in PA and filled out his dumb petition to vote conservative or whatever when he said he would mail you $100 for doing so, because whatever, I’ll gladly lie to a billionaire to take his money. I never got it and am assuming I never will, because it’s lairs and frauds all the way down.
