  1. > “We’ve been in the business long enough to know that when folks go, ‘It’s just an honor to be nominated.’ No it ain’t. It’s an honor to win,” Jackson said with a laugh. “You get nominated and folks go, ‘Yeah I remember that.’ Or most people forget. Generally it’s a contest you didn’t volunteer to be in. I didn’t go in there so I could flex. ‘Let me do my scene so you can remember who I was.’”

  2. Nobody forgets Bad Motherfucker or Big Kahuna Burger. Say *“What”* Again.

  3. Unless you are *Saving Private Ryan* who lost The Best Picture Oscar to *Shakespeare in Love*. People still remember that.

  4. I mean, it IS an accomplishment to be nominated. 99.9999999% of actors will never ever be nominated and it’s definitely a recognition, especially with how political winner choices are.

But also, what does he expect people to say? “Fuck you guys, I don’t want your nomination unless I win”?

  5. I really find him tacky dealing with this subject. He lost to Martin Landau 30 years ago and he still whines about it even now. Get over it.

  6. I don’t know man. How many times have you read an article about a celebrity that introduces them as “the five times Oscar-nominated” so-and-so. It seems like Hollywood journalists are required to keep a list. They might name 2 or even 3 of the actual films you were in but they will omit most of them and they will definitely say the number of times you’ve been nommed in your list of achievements.

  7. Samuel L Jackson is a national treasure! I am sure there were a few F words used.

  8. That’s not true when talking about prestige Oscar Nominated actor is still better than also featuring when talking about movie credits.

  9. This is bullshit. It’s definitely more of an honor to win, but every year there are 2000 people who didn’t get nominated for best actor/actress/supporting who would love to have simply been nominated.

Sam is talking from a position of privilege here, like the successful lawyer who vigorously argues that owning a home and having $1m doesn’t make a person rich because there’s other people with bigger houses and more money and yachts and shit.

  10.  ‘If you do this movie, you’ll win an Oscar.’ No, thanks. I’d rather be Nick Fury. Or having fun being Mace Windu with a lightsaber in my hand.”

If I were making a living as an actor, that’d be how I’d see it.

  11. This is a serious disconnect cuz he’s been uber famous for so long.

It would be an amazing honor if I knew anyone in my life that got nominated. Calling bs on this one Sam.

  12. All a out the same a few years on, maybe when Im choosing what old movie to watch Ill take it into consideration. Right now though, just a good plot is nice

  13. He is already a legend.

Does anyone even care about the Oscar’s anymore?

  14. Even though they mention it whenever they talk about an Oscar nominated person for their entire career. Like when they say two time Oscar nominee then the name of the actor. They never say that for winners – what’s he talking about…..

  15. Yeah I’m sure he can get over it while spanking to his bank account.

  16. I love Sam’s acting, but who really gives a shit. Those movie awards are masturbatory. Just enjoy those paychecks and keep making good stuff.
