  1. I know she massively fucked over her local party and all the folk that campaigned for her, but still — I’d be more sympathetic if she’d moved to the US or Ireland/mainland Europe. At least that would make sense. But Dubai? Wtf.🥴

  3. What’s worse about this is that she appears to have known before the election that this would have happened, yet just wanted to see if she could win. Suffice to say she has left everyone who campaigned for her absolutely devastated.

  7. With the amount of effort she put in the last couple of years – I can only assume that there was an outside chance of her husband being offered a role in Dubai, but not one they expected to actually happen.

    At some point after the close of nominations, the role was confirmed and they started preparations to sell their house and relocate.

    I don’t think she expected to win (her literature was heavily focused around beating the SNP who she was narrowly behind last time – so I think she was expecting to put in a solid showing with the anticipation of her or another LD candidate winning the third seat next time).

    This was then rather blown out of the water by her surprise win.

    It will be fascinating to see who wins the two seats now up for grabs (our SNP councillor has also resigned). I find myself a little dubious that the LDs will do quite so well!

  9. That’s the Liberals for you. They dinnae believe in anything. They’re a party of career politicians that appeals only tae middle class who know the Tories are bad but think Labour are communist (which they think is also bad).
